"Confliction Presents New Lineup"

It's new blood; new fight.

Those were the words (more or less) Confliction frontman Rollin Carver repeated several times July 9 as his heavy-rocking band debuted its new lineup at Ron Jon's.

It is a new era for the Myrtle Beach band, ushering in the first lineup change in nearly five years.

Bassist Rich Vascovich left the group at the end of May, and his replacement, Matt Fortin, came from Atlanta band End The Fall, to expand Confliction and present a new look.

Fortin made his presence immediately felt, bounding around the stage and forming a tight rhythm section with drummer Chuck Cooper.

Confliction proved it hasn't lost a step during the month-long layoff, and I think fans who were at the gig will attest to that, eating up charged versions of "Get Jacked" and "Killing Butterflies."

The comeback gig also featured Confliction's first public acoustic performance, as the band pulled up barstools and busted out an unplugged Alice in Chains cover and a new original song called "Kings Will Fall."

Members of Not Yet Rated, who performed before Confliction, stuck around and crowded around the stage as their mentors showed how it's done.

CONFLICTION throw things down in a next level way. When you spin their LP, from beginning to end, it has driving hooks coupled with great transitions and killer riffs. Oh, by the way, they can reproduce it live too. We've had a great response thus far from spiking their tracks, just listen, you'll dig 'em. - DOUBLEDOWN - Program Director - WRAK 97.3

Having played in various east coast bands, members Tripp Gaddy (Guitar / Vocals), Chuck Cooper (Drums) and Rollin Carver (Vocals) united and formed CONFLICTION in1999. The final piece, Matt Fortin (Bass / Vocals), was added to the puzzle in early 2004.

Possessing unique and diverse backgrounds has provided each member with an avenue for harnessing their creativity throughout the molding and shaping of their music. Their style is simple but EXPLOSIVE with a lot of underlying meaning to each song. Each member believes that music is a vehicle for hope and change. They keep it personal but also positive. “There are enough negative and depressing messages already out there in the world of music today,” says Rollin. The songs are raw and heavy, but if you listen closely, you will find there is always a personal underlying message. Matt states, “The music, which is pieced together with such a high level of emotion, is reflected in the personal way we relate to our audience throughout each show.”

CONFLICTION’s self-produced CD “The Face of Aggression” contains 11 original tracks and has sold over 2,000 copies in retail stores, at shows, and on the internet. Their newest two-CD set has sold over 6,000 copies since January of 2004 with no distribution. This is a testament to the intense work ethic that each band member possesses. Three CONFLICTION songs are also on the internationally distributed D-Aces Motorcycle video and DVD “Not Guilty” (www.d-aces.com) and the song “Guilty” is to be featured in the 2004 Dalton Pictures Movie Altered Courses.

With a repertoire of over 40 original songs, and a diverse three CD discography; CONFLICTION songs are currently being played in heavy rotation on 97.3 FM in Albany, GA, 101.7 FM WKZQ in Myrtle Beach, SC, 105.5 WXZR FM in Jacksonville, NC, and numerous college radio stations across the nation.
