Bio

One of the most exhilarating Latin fusion supergroups to emerge from the First Coast’s music scene is conKlave (pronounced con CLAH-vay). The band’s scintillating blend of genres includes music from the Caribbean, South America, and the U.S.: Salsa, Songo, Cumbia, Rock, Timba, Merengue, Funk, Cha-Cha-Cha, Samba, Bossa Nova and Bachata
conKlave, literally means “with clave", which is the backbone and primary pulse of many AfroCuban, Caribbean and South American styles of music. It is also the name of a common percussion instrument, consisting of a pair of cylindrical wooden sticks.
conKlave creates pulsating, Latin-inspired grooves for both dancers and listeners. It performs such driving rock Español tunes as Santana’s “Guajira” and Mana’s “Corazon Espinado,” traditional AfroCubano dance numbers like Charanga Habenera’s “Baile Azucar,” popular South American folk tunes including “Negra Tomasa,” and imaginative arrangements of such classic rock anthems as Cream’s “Sunshine of Your Love.”
The Jacksonville-based band is comprised of experienced musicians, all of whom have played in some of the area’s leading Latino ensembles (Ya’Gozo, Strings of fire, Ritmo y Sabor, Renacer Gaitero, etc.)
Translation: conKlave absolutely smokes!
