(Source: OPRAH MAGAZINE): This summer, Jennifer Lopez turns 50. To commemorate the multi-hyphenate's birthday on July 24th, we’re counting down with 50 Days of J.Lo, a celebration of the woman who’s shown us all by example how to be ageless—inside and out.
While there can only ever be one Jennifer Lopez, apparently, she does have a very convincing dopplegänger. So convincing that this lookalike has made an entire career out of her striking resemblance to the Latina pop icon. Connie Peña—who has amassed a cool 70K Instagram followers—is not only a J.Lo lookalike, but also an impersonator who is getting ready to perform what she says is the first ever J.Lo tribute concert.
The resemblance between the entrepreneurial single mom and Jennifer Lopez is so strong, in fact, that she has said she often has to go outside with a bodyguard.
And when Peña had the chance to meet J.Lo this summer at a meet-and-greet during the singer's "It's My Party" tour, she wrote in her Instagram caption that her life was changed.

“I finally got the opportunity to meet the Ms Jennifer Lopez, the LEGEND, my ICON, and the woman that has motivated me and impacted my life in so many ways!” she wrote. “This day changed my life. I had been waiting so very long for this day to come. I’ve never been so nervous in my life! It has been 1 year to date that I announced to the world that I would be doing the first ever tribute to her.”
As many of us would be in the presence of a true unicorn, despite portraying her for so long, Peña admitted she was beyond starstruck. She said she got so "nervous" that the "million questions" she had seemed to disappear. "The only thing I could get out of my mouth was thanking her for being who she is and how much of a motivation she has been to me and how I am working really hard to bring the first tribute show to her in her honor."
The two then shared a hug, and J.Lo evidently told her "we look alike!" which made Peña's "heart drop with joy."

Connie Peña, la imitadora idéntica de Jennifer Lopez tuvo un encuentro cara a cara con la cantante y esto fue lo que la "Diva del Bronx" le dijo sobre el extraordinario parecido que tienen, no sólo en las facciones y el look, sino en sus famosas curvas de impacto.
Peña contó para "Un Nuevo Día" que lleva varios años perfeccionando su parecido con JLo y ha llegado a ser confundida incluso por famosos como Marc Anthony, con quien se encontró en una premiación en la que también se presentó la cantante.
"Para mí es una bendición", afirmó Connie, quien tenía el sueño de conocer a la intérprete de "El Anillo" en persona y al fin pudo realizarlo, hace unos días en un meet and greed organizado por Telemundo Mineapolis, y que compartió en sus redes sociales.
La reunión se realizó en el Xcel Energy Center, con motivo de la gira "It’s my party" de JLo, donde la cantante saludó a otros fanáticos como Peña, depués de su concierto.
La doble de JLo publica numerosas fotos en su cuenta de Instagram, donde, con el look y las poses de la cantante, prácticamente luce como un clon de JLo.
La imitadora afirma que tenía tantas preguntas por hacerle a JLo que pensó: "Si la conozco, qué le diría, cómo le diría, qué le preguntaría, le pediría un consejo". Sin embargo, no pudo cuestionarle nada.
"Fue algo tan rápido y un shock, que simplemente lo único que le pude decir fue: 'Gracias'. Gracias por todo lo que ha hecho, ha sido ella una motivación en mi vida que me ha impactado tanto", afirmó la doble.
Aunque el encuentro fue muy rápido, la imitadora afirma que significó mucho para ella y, al parecer, para JLo también, ya que la cantante se sorprendió al verla y al saber que Peña está planeando realizarle un tributo.
Connie detalla que Lopez se dio cuenta de inmediato del parecido entre las dos. "Cuando me miró, me dijo: ¿nos parecemos?", contó Connie.
Peña dice que JLo se mostró muy agradecida por sus palabras y por la noticia de su tributo en el que la imitadora se encuentra trabajando desde hace un año.

"Me ofrecieron hacerle un tributo hace nueve años, pero en ese momento estaba muy ocupada con mis negocios y estaba embarazada, entonces no le tome la importancia", explicó.
"Con los años fui investigando un poco más y enamorándome más de lo que está haciendo JLo con su público, con su gente, con la música, cómo se desarrolla. Entonces dije: 'Esto es algo que yo puedo tomar con mucho corazón, tiempo y dedicación'", afirmó.
Peña también detalló que uno de los aspectos que más le han costado trabajo copiar de JLo han sido las coreografías que realiza, pues, aunque siempre ha sido aficionada al baile y al canto, nunca lo ha hecho profesionalmente como JLo.
"JLo es una bailarina increíble, entonces la coreografía es difícil y tengo tres coreógrafos con los que trabajo, son a veces cinco días a la semana, cinco u ocho horas al día y ya han sido muchos meses y todavía no tengo la coreografía como quisiera presentarla", admitió Connie.
No obstante, la imitadora, quien afirma que busca reconocer la carrera y talento de JLo a través de este evento, ya ha realizado numerosas presentaciones en las que podría hacer una buena competencia a la "Diva del Bronx" con sus pasos de baile. - TELEMUNDO - Un Nuevo Dia TV

Connie Peña; originally from Santa Ana California in Orange County with Peruvian father and Mexican mother. She is an entrepreneur and single mother of two children, they are her motor to keep going and those who motivate her to continue reaching her goals. She is the third daughter of seven brothers, of whom six survive, since in 1994 when she was 15 years old, her brother Daniel at age 17 was murdered at the hands of the gangs, so she is totally against those criminal groups and always promotes a healthy life without vices.
At an early age, Connie was highly involved with the entertainment industry. At age 21 her father gave her ownership and full responsibility of her own night club "EL Premier NightClub" in Las Vegas, she learned about the business and coordinating live entertainment on a weekly base. Along with the Night Club, Connie started bringing Jaripeos- Mexican style Rodeos to Las Vegas in 2003, recognizing herself as the first Latina woman to be granted a license for this type of event. The club closed its doors in 2014, but that did not stop Connie, she continued to work with exclusive venues and promoters to continue on bringing Latin entertainment to Las Vegas, participating as a promoter of several recognized artists in different genres - Regional Mexican, Salsa, Cumbia, Reggaeton, Rachata, etc. There have been numerous renowned artists who passed though her night club and events she has put together. Jenny Rivera, Adan Chalino Sanchez, North Hurricanes, Laberinto, Oscar de León, Grupo Niche, Guayacan, Maluma, Ivy Queen, Arkangel, among many others;
In 2008, Connie's passion for beauty motivates her to open her first ever 54 Station salon & Day spa in Las Vegas "Mia Bella" salon, which later moves location and changes its name to "Bella Mi Salon & Nail Spa". In 2009 she is named hair & Make up Coordinator for The Latin Grammys . She was the host of her own Reality Show "702 En Vivo", where she interviewed Latin artists and offered makeovers on the show, always promoting her business through modeling, television, radio, and as a host to several shows and events.
THE TRIBUTE TO JLO
She enjoys dancing, is very active and disciplined, dedicated to her children and her business. Connie, besides being beautiful, is very charismatic, and always makes the people around her feel confident.
Although she never thought about dedicating herself to singing or dancing, much less dreamed of being the double of one of her favorite stars, she brings it in her blood and they are activities that she always enjoys.
A famous choreographer "Papote" (Ricky Martin, Iris Chacon) first saw Connie in 2011 during the Las Vegas Miss Mexico USA contest where she was Co Hosting the event, he became amazed by her resemblance to Jlo and told her "You will be the next Jlo" so he invited her to be the double of Jennifer Lopez, due to her great resemblance, he offered choreograph lessons, singing lessons, facial and body lessons to mimic the famous Puerto Rican's every move and offered her a show in Vegas, but at that time Connie was a few months pregnant and therefore could not take that responsibility. At the same time, another entrepreneur representing the company "Legends", also offered to characterize her as Jlo.
As the years have gone by, Connie has been confused many times with Jennifer Lopez. A multitude of people have stopped her in the streets and have asked her for pictures and autographs, but after what happened at the Latin Billboard in Las Vegas on April 2018, it completely changed her life. As a result of the life changing event, she decided to take on the roll of impersonating Jennifer Lopez seriously and professionally. Therefore, Connie Pena has caught the attention in the national media and thousands of fans confusing her as Jlo to the extent of requesting escorts and security to leave different events. For that and several other reasons, Connie has made the decision and commitment to perform the characterization of Jennifer Lopez.
Currently in 2018 time and space is given and now Connie has been preparing through intense dance rehearsals, vocal lessons, hair, makeup, wardrobe, numerous photo shoots, media interviews and very special production to perform the tribute to the woman who has inspired her as an artist, mother and businesswoman.
