Þeir listamenn sem komu fram á Bræðslunni 2012 voru: Mugison, Valgeir Guðjónsson, Fjallabræður, The Lovely Lion og Contalgen Funeral.

"Iceland Airwaves ’11 (October 12 – 16) Day 3: ‘Chasing Útidúr & finding Vicky’"

Our evening started at the Glaumbar with Contalgen Funeral, these guys (and girl) know how to entertain a crowd and write a song about cocaine; in fact they know how to write nearly a whole set of songs about cocaine. It was great to hear a bit of banjo, double-bass and spoons – the festival continued to confound (in a good way). - someofitistrue Just another WordPress.com site

"The Second Verse is Much Better Than the First"

The rain was torrential, painful and incredibly cold as we were dropped off in the city center. Taking shelter from the cold in an English pub, the evening was still unfolding into something more dynamite. The time came to take in some acts and the first on the plate was El Camino who was playing at Gaukur a Stöng. I wanted El Camino, but I got Contalgen Funeral, a bluesy five-piece with a standup bass, trombone, dude on drums, a lady vocalist and a dreadlocked banjo player rocking tunes out like he had a voice passed down by Tom Petty. The band had a solid sound and though there may have only been 20 people in the bar, the crowd was tight. They switched between English and Icelandic lyrics and in all honesty, the Icelandic lyrics were much better and touted a folkier sound. Truth be told, they had that Phish-like jam band mantra about them and it wasn’t until after three songs into the set that I realized I was watching the wrong band and in the wrong bar. Well, it was a swing and a miss for the most part, but after a while I was knee deep in a band that was totally worth the mishap… epic fail, Pylinski. - The Blog @ WCRX 88.1 FM – Chicago's Underground Posted on October 15, 2011 by petercoffinail

Bio

Contalgen Funeral is a home-grown success story, which shows that a combination of hard work, great songs, a good vibe, a genuine vision, and a little bit of luck go a long way.

The band was formed in the small town Sauðarkrókur in northern Iceland by two friends Andri and Kristján who where heavily influenced by Tom Waits and other great musicians alike.

For a short period the band had various members that came and went as do all bands have before settling on unique members that make up that special something.

What makes this band unique from others are the long winter nights in northern Iceland and a very lively stage performance.
