There are bands, which tend to choose the shortest way to the glory. They exploit the simple two-chord melody that anybody can sing anywhere, gaudy dress and full playback on stage performances. But there are another bands, which perfect their skills each day being convinced that playbacks are invalid, the vocal is to be strictly professional and emotions should beundoubtedly real. CONTRABANDA.COM.UA adheres to the latter way.
The odd name relates to the music closely! Amazed? That’s the way it is and no criminal! For the foreign music used to reach the Ukrainian musicians by mean of contraband. And now the real, high-quality, “live” music will seek for its listeners by the good-old mean – via “Contrabanda” or rather via CONTRABANDA.COM.UA.
The driving force of the band is fragile vocalist Olga Tsepkalo. She possesses the brilliant voice. Her powerful, emotional and sensual vocal stings a listener from the very first notes and doesn’t let off till the end. Along with Roman Babich Olga composed most of the songs.
The debut album had been recording in various studios within several years. “Get Out” was recorded in Reactiv Music Studio in Stockholm. Later Olga re-recorded the vocal with Ukrainian lyrics, so the song got title “Tebe Ne Trymayu”. Originally the band performed all the compositions in English. But during the work on the album the musicians took a venturesome step – in the upshot the disc appeared to be 60/40 ukrainian-english.
The listeners will face a lot of surprises. Prima facie the album is rather in the realm of regular expressive pop-rock with the distinctive female lead vocal. But it’s unlikely to choose the prompt comparison – CONTRABANDA.COM.UA is absolutely original product.
