"ROCKSOUND REVIEW"

For a band saying they hail from Dublin Ireland, Controlfreak sound very un-irish and for the most part un-british. The opening track "Neon October" from their debut self released album sounds like a cross between the cult's santuary and chris isaak---but it works with a very catchy chorus line and a competent build-up. The other tracks that stood out for me were "Perfect Boy"- a tale of alienation and homophobia which has real spirit and again- an excellent chorus. Amber Skies, Necrosis and Tech Noir are great examples of 90's influenced alt rock a la smashing pumpkins or soundgarden, but still retaining a spark of originality. "loved before nitefall" brings in more of an 80's post punk influence with siouxsie guitars and tom heavy drums, creating an addictive and dark atmosphere. The closing track 'the night i saw you cry" again showing post punk influences-builds admirably and showcases a band with plenty of potential.
I look forward to hearing what these guys do next".

"kaleidoscope magazine review"

Aha – this is kinda different… Futuristic Post-Punk anyone? Very listenable, and grows on you with each listen,

this is an interesting CD with a load of different styles and ideas coming at you. Hard to say generally

who it’s likely to hit home with exactly, as their appeal will be cross-genre to a considerable degree I think.

There’s bits of punk, bits of indie, bits of industrial, bits of electronic, bits of proggy meanderings.

The result is distinctive and very good - well worth checking out. - Katz

Bio

we don't like fake ass rock and roll bands pretending to be real and rebellious even though they are just puppets for businessmen---so we set up the band to try and write some real music with relevant and real lyrics and make the whole thing sound fresh and innovative....thats it
