Biography

take two lads from the smalltown ontario wilds of bancroft and eganville, toss them into the cultural glut of the megalopolis of toronto, mix in equal parts electronica and acoustic folk, smiles and frowns, and mainstream and alternative, and you get a musical duo like no other.

born of a sense of irony and spectacle, convertible robots are an all-out kick in the genitals. the genitals! with rich tapestries of sound, unexpected instrumentation and orchestration, darkly whimsical and intelligent lyrics, conceptual approaches, and full-on multi-media treatments, the phenomenon that is convertible robots will provoke you in a way that no other ensemble can. it's like a car-wreck- you just can't turn away. it is a surrealist dream. a dark circus.

they are convertible robots, possessed of a captivating spirit and a sense of performance that pulls you in and surrounds you, lulling you into a state of satisfied bliss, and leaving you to drift through their epic machinations not merely as a bystander but as a full participant. welcome to the realm of convertible robots

Everyone In Groups Of Three

Written By: Convertible Robots

I had a notion when I was thereThat everything was about to be differentNow this place was quite quiet enoughBut things seemed all so militantAlthough my instincts told me not to think I just had to blink as my lids started to drinkIn the smoke and the haze at the brinkJust in time for me to sink down in a blinkRearranged in my mind was the notionThat I was now blind oh but the oceans Of ideas that flooded in just in timeTo bleed flocculent lotion all to moisturizeI was thinking lately latelyMy eyes were drying greatlyPalpable they escaped meInto a place so statelyMy mind began to rape meBearing right down its weightyIdeals now so plainlyLined up all so ornatelyNow inside my head we all sat downIn a semi-circle to be selectedOne by one tiny claws pointed outThrough the haze and the fog all so fetidDripping liquid lisping from my eyesAs the tightened muscles in my lidsFrayed afraid of being paralyzedLick up the drops so that is what I did Do not blinkDo not do anything like thatDo not stand upIf you stand up you will be satAs it came my turn to be chosenI dipped my head down just to be bashfulThen I felt the blood rush right awayMind and body were sent into battleFelt several gripping hands clasp downTense and condescending on meA voice cracked on a speakerphoneEveryone get in to groups of threeThis was no place for children to beAnd I sure fancied myself youngerNow led with two others down a hallCohorts of six feet sounding like thunderOne two three we countEnmity I swearOverdrawn the coldOver everywhereOpulent oratorsRuling classless foesPushing triumvirsOut into the snowEye membranes cleared up just for a tickAllowing me enough time to appreciateHow ludicrous this situation wasAll these species put into one placeOne two three we countClaws feet paws trod downEnshrined trios marchJust to the piercing soundEntombed multiplesEntropy everywhereEdicts Effused to usEndemic too I swear

No Speed

Written By: Convertible Robots

Slide down slowBefore nothing asksYou step quickBut I step lightLow and overcastAnd overawe youAs the thinness railsIt bucks you downA perdition of velocityIt palesIn comparativeLoss to meAnd youAs we sway among The heat swayingCalefaction grows orangeAs do our feet As they carryIt warrantsA condition ofNo needNo wantNo gratuity andNo speedVacuum onBrain dies downNothing leftNothing at allTo build uponEngine noiseExclusionarySuck of the hoseUpon your insidesYou flow throughBut you are dryAnd dryers Dry waterLike wineWhining engines dieWrecked PaymentsFor used motor skillsAnd second handFootsteps that traceThe dust Vacuum off

Get In

Written By: Convertible Robots

At the first scent You get bent out of shapeYou seal your eyes for The thought of escapeAppearing out of no whereNow the shimmer lastsBlasting through the coveringOf your eyes so fastFeeling such a feelingThat it feels so goodNo one coming fasterReally than you couldMoaning and cycloningThrough the puppetryOf the guise of coolnessBut soon you’ll seeGet inGet inGet in get in get inThough the wind blows It stows a little thingFor your mind to sit Instead of wanderingZero to five thousandIn less than a blinkDropping the g-forcesSo you don’t thinkCentrifugal centripetal And out of reachThe burning of this learningSeems to open meYou maunder at the hopeOf disencumbered thingsWandering not plunderingTo where it bringsGet inGet inGet in get in get inNow into a frenzy You may flagellateThis ride may be polemicBut it’s also greatSo red hot and speedingIt seems salamandrineBaking until shakenAs the tires whineEven the seraphs fall To the tangy glowOf the spinning speedAt a level so lowIt weaves and it dissipatesThrough the last showAs if a tryst is waiting thereIt’s time to go
