"The most beautiful voice"

The most beautiful voice I have ever heard
Reviewer: Jody Anderson
This morning while i was flipping through radio stations, attempting to find a decent song to listen to instead of all the usual morning show chit chat...I came across the most beautiful voice I had ever heard. I was only able to catch the very last part of the song...think the song might have been called (How Could This Be)It should never be..or something like that..Brooke..You have an amazing voice..and there is no doubt in my mind that you will be a very successful artist sooner than you think..Keep up the good work..Jody Anderson

Bio

A not-too-brief history of Seattle's folkrocking and foot stomping band "Brooke Pennock Band" and its acoustic duo offshoot, "Cool Water" featuring award winning songwriters Brooke Pennock and Wendy McDowell. (The duo currently performs up to 4 hours of original music and covers from artists such as Johnny Cash, Janis Joplin, Annie Lennox, Bonnie Raitt and more!)
Brooke Pennock gained recognition in the Seattle New Folk scene in 2004 with her multi-award winning song, "Eddie."
The song was featured on KZOK/KMPS-FM Radio's compilation CD as the #1 winner of their songwriting contest. It was distributed widely on a "Save The Music" campaign throughout Northwest area Fred Meyer stores.
Brooke has also won the "Made in Washington's Best Emerging Artist Award" the "West Coast Songwriters Award" and was a Billboard Music Songwriters Finalist and Lilith Fair/Levi's Top 10 Emerging Artist finalist. Her songs have received airplay on local and regional radio, including KZOK, KMPS, KEXP and KMTT.
Several songs from Brooke Pennock's extensive catalogue were also used on the soundtrack of the independent film "Poppies: Odyssey of an Opium Eater." (www.poppiesthemovie.com) The movie has won numerous awards and been featured at many International Film Festivals.
For 2010's, "The Heater Must Be Broke" CD, Brooke returned to "No Goin' Back" Producer Ryan Hadlock (The Strokes, Metric, Afghan Whigs, The Gossip, Johnny Flynn) at Bear Creek Studios (http://www.transgressiverecords.co.uk/ryanhadlock)(www.bearcreekstudios.com)
"The Heater Must Be Broke" layers Brooke's picturesque vocal sketches and Wendy's accompanying harmonies with a butt shakin' rhythm section. With standout tracks like "Train," (available for free download at the bands website www.brookepennock.com) Brooke continues to compete on the world level of songwriting. "Train" is currently a contender in the 2011 Great American Songwriters Contest.
Wendy McDowell, born on the Spacecoast of Florida, has been singing, drumming, playing bass and writing award winning songs for over 20 years. Her 1990's band "Tin Angel" was featured on college radio stations throughout the Southeast and Eastern Coast. She has toured, played with and opened for a multitude of national artists like: Diane Ward (Miami New Times multiple Best Female Artist award) Sister Hazel (Grammy Award nominees and multi chart topping Billboard artists); Kristen Hall (Sugarland); Joan Osborne; My Friend Steve; Ani DiFranco; Bitch and Animal; Terri Binion, Michelle Malone, Melissa Ferrick and more.
Lifetime friends Brooke and Wendy have enjoyed over 20 years of harmony and music together.
Getting back to basics, they've recorded their 7th CD, a live acoustic show at Caffe Mela in Wenatchee; limited edition CDs are available at performances only.

The Gift
"I don't know where this stuff comes from. The songs write me, I don't write them. I certainly have tons of life experiences and a great imagination, but sometimes the beauty or perfection of a line I've just written can surprise me. I think it's a gift, I really do."
And her gift of writing is given to us.... insatiable teasing, crippling self doubt, shattering honesty, true love and true hate, the words that explain what we feel but can't speak.....perfectly.
Wendy McDowell - Bass/Percussion/Vocals
Finding her home
After years of asking her to leave Florida and return to Washington, Brooke’s life-long friend, Wendy, has finally come home. In 2004, Wendy joined up with the band and has been booking shows, managing press, selling swag, running sound, playing multiple instruments and singing backup vocals. "Wendy has a basic instinct for Brooke’s music…she gets it; she understands what the music is saying and how to compliment it."
