"FakeShoreDrive NYE Post"

The FSD NYE Post. We started this tradition last year as a way to say thank you to all of the readers and aspiring artists in the city. The concept is simple: for one day, we’re giving every Chicago emcee the opportunity to have their music featured on the site–in this round-up style post.
I announced this yesterday on both Twitter and Facebook, so if you missed it, you should look in to following both (perks!). So check out some new talent below. The good news is that a handful of artists we posted last year have now entered current rotation on the site.
Happy New Year everyone, and thanks for your continued support of FSD in 2011. Here’s to hoping we can top what we did this year in 2012. Be safe out there tonight. - FakeShoreDrive

"EP: Nick-n-Beans- School In Session: 1st Semester"

School in session so close to Holiday break? I wound't mind a Holiday break right about now, but that thought just reminded me of how I haven't had one in 5 years (yikes!). You kids out there take advantage of that.

Here's the debut EP from Chicago-duo Nick Jr. and QBeans also known as Nick-N-Beans. - www.fakeshoredrive.com

"[Hit or Quit] Nick-n-Beans- Pull It"

So you all know how the [Hit or Quit] format goes and with that being said….We got some new music for you all to check out.

This comes from Nick-N-Beans. Briefly if this your first time being introduced. They are a duo that have been making some noise on the Chicago scene. Comprised of two members, Nick Jr. rapper, and Q-Beans producer/ Rapper. Recently hooking up in the past summer of 2008, they have since been sponsored by the Chicago based clothing line “Sneaker Fiend”, and have performed at several venues (Clubs, concert theatres, even high schools, giving back to the community).

The two have been creating a new sound. A sound in which they would call “Progressive Hip-Hop”. Progressive Hip Hop basically embodies the elements of traditional hip hop and places it with non-traditional hip hop music. I’m always looking for something new to hear. Recently they just debuted their EP, entitled “School In Session”. I love the music, there’s always room for improvement, but I can say their music is worth listening to.

Your actually doing something right in my opinion, if you made it on my MP3 Player lol. I also like the fact that their not trying to be no one else, but their self (So I definitely support that). That’s a good look. The new song “Pull It” is featured on sneaker boutique Haut’s mixtape.

"Fresh Faces: Nick-n-Beans- School In Session"

FRESH FACES: NICK-N-BEANS – SCHOOL IN SESSION

That fontface looks familiar, hmm. Nick Jr and Q-Beans of the LDRS camp here in Chicago have dropped a new EP entitled School In Session: 1st Semester EP. These two young MCs have been doing their thing out here in Chicago, and I for one am glad they finally dropped something that I could shoot around and see what people though of them. I hadn’t previously gotten a chance to hear Q-Beans’ beats before this project landed in my inbox, but I was pretty impressed. Made me go back and listen to my first recordings and realize the new generation of MC’s is gonna be outlandish compared to what the vets are doing now. Anyways, partake of the sample song, 1 Way To O’hare, check the tracklisting and the EP download link after the jump, and let them know what you think about it. - www.blindiforthekids.com

"5 Questions"

I finally had a chance to catch up with the Chi-Town dual Nick-n-Beans. They are much more than underground noise makers, more like quarter sticks of dynamite making heads turn and bop to their unique sound.

The Eargasm had a chance to get their 5 and as you guest it, these two have more energy then the Yin Yang Twins.

1). What Gives you an Eargasm?

Nick – What gives me a eargasm is going to the studio listening to a NEW song.

Beans – The Across The Universe Remake Of “Strawberry Fields Forever”.

2). Album or work with a Guaranteed Eargasm Experience other than yours?

Beans - MGMT Oracular Spectacular

Nick – Natorious B.I.G Ready to Die is a guaranteed eargasm experience…REAL SHIT!

3) Something you learned this week.

Nick – everyday is a struggle right now so just get on your shit grind and win at the end of the day…REAL SHIT!

Beans – No one ever made history by themselves, it was always a movement.

4) Song you would wake up to every morning if you could?

Beans – Kanye West – Late

Nick – Ice Cube-It was a good day

5) Eargasm or Orgasm

Nick – BOTH (can I pick both??)..LOL..*

Beans – Can I choose an Eargasm while having an Orgasm lol

"Nick-n-Beans lead a Chicago new music update"

Closing the night on an all-Chicago tip as Nick-N-Beans leads things off with a new record called "Walking Around". The song parallels the cover above - a fun and fresh track that is seemingly A Kid Named Cudi-esque intro to their upcoming mixtape, Party Hoes & Dope Clothes. I felt a Kidz In The Hall vibe overall but their styles are still unique in their own right. Nevertheless, it's definitely a record that warrants a download above.

Down below, R.O.E. goes in on Omarion's "I Get It In", which will be appearing on his upcoming mixtape Just Listen Vol. 2: Prequel To The Dream, which will be droppin' on the longest day of the year and his birthday: December 21st. Keep your ears perked for the fraction punchline that I particularly enjoyed. You can expect a mix of original material and RMXs of mainstream beats on the upcoming mixtape, a prelude to the 2010 EP on the way: A Pen. A Mic. A Dream. Finally, Cy Yung's upcoming album, Soul Train Dancer: A Tribute To Rosie Perez is due out the week before on December 15th and close producer and fellow Chicago collaborator J. Slikk provides some exclusive insight into the arduous creative process behind the album that was four years in the making. Shouts go to RockTheDub as well for the Cy Yung album sampler you can download below. You can bet there's more to come from all these Chicago artists before '09 comes to a close. Enjoy!
