Music from the soul and guitar of Cora Lajoie will soothe and inspire your heart, exploring the sacred place where Music, Nature, and Spirit unite.

Biography

Cora Lajoie is a songstress and gardener inspired to explore the place where music, nature, and spirit unite. Born and raised by Canada’s chemical valley, she has since been on a journey of connecting the dots, connecting with the life force we’ve forgotten, connecting with community, and connecting with our responsibility to Mother Earth. Her path has taken her across Canada and Europe, and now she's planting her roots in Southern Ontario.

She plays her “conscious folk songs to soothe and inspire your heart” in parks by day, and intimate cafes by night. Her recent, independently released album called Mindshift is available to download pay-what-you-feel on her website, www.perfumeorgan.com.

Cora spent the Spring months of 2009 recording a new album called "Flourish", with songs inspired by flowers, diamonds, unconditional love, darkness, fire, seeds, and dreams... Add her to Facebook or email her to be connected to the news about this album, to be released midsummer 2009.

Lyrics

Wolf

Written By: Court Lajoie

The full moon, it fills the night
It shows a world where all’s not right
I run to the mountain, I run up high
And my only instinct is to sing to the sky
Oooooooooo…

This foreign land has shown me my own bones
My skeleton of beliefs
All this rain, all this time alone
Have washed away my debris
I look from a tower of priviledge down to a galaxy of lights
And my only instinct is to sing to the sky.
Oooooooooo…

Can you hear the song from my soul
Travelling with the wind?
I can feel you across the world, I believe we are kin
In this moment, we are united, together by life
And my only instinct is to sing to the sky
Oooooooooo…

This world is ours, this world is us
And everything that we love
This is the time, we need to help eachother
Learn and rise above
And although our lives are small, compared to it all
We are very powerful and mustn’t let this world fall
Oooooooooo…

Country Road

Written By: Court Lajoie

I want to plant a seed and watch it grow
Learn the things I want to know
Follow my dreams down a country road
Somewhere in southern Ontario

I want to find a place to call my home
Listen to the land and let it bloom from it’s soul
We can plant our hearts and watch them grow
Somewhere in southern Ontario

Would you like to walk along
Fields of sweet corn that seem to go on forever
Would you like to come along
Oh, the seeds that we could sow together

Let’s follow our dreams down a country road
We’ll go anywhere you’d like to go
We can plant our hearts and watch them grow
Somewhere in southern Ontario

Incomplete Harmony

Written By: Court Lajoie

We know so many languages
We speak so many words
We make our noises louder than
Voices that go unheard

But it’s an incomplete harmony; we’re not listening to what we sing.

We write a symphony with every day that passes
With our own melodies so loud, we don’t hear clashes
We all sing the only song in this universe
It’s our decision if this is better or worse

It’s an incomplete harmony, we’re not listening to what we sing

I Forgot There Is Sun Outside

Written By: Court Lajoie

I’m laying on the couch, staring at the screen
Lights and messages and people I see
My body is limp, my brain is thick
And I am forgetting everything
I forgot there is sun outside
I forgot that I am alive
I forgot the blue of the sky
I forgot to open my eyes

I’m standing on the grass, looking at the sky
Wondering, wondering, wondering why
I’ve wasted so many hours of my life
Hypnotized
I forgot there is sun outside
I forgot that I am alive
I forgot my unwritten lines
I forgot my freedom of mind

The lake, the sky, the birds, the trees, the wealth of possibilities!
The life around and inside me, the world is all my family!

I forgot there is sun outside
I forgot that I am alive
I forgot there is sun outside
I forgot that I am alive
I forgot the flowing of time
I forgot that this life is mine
I forgot to let my light shine

Memory

Written By: Court Lajoie

Your memory is part of me, like
Decomposing autumn leaves
Become the earth that’s underneath
Your love is sleeping peacefully

Time passes in days, months, years
I still remember what was here
The seeds we planted grow in sand
That’s blowing away slowly.

Now leaves grow out of me
In colours my eyes can’t believe
Another day, another dream
Your memory is part of me
Another day, another dream
Your memory will always be

Your memory is part of me, like
Decomposing autumn leaves
Decome the earth that’s underneath
Your love is sleeping peacefully

Heartsong

Written By: Court Lajoie

I'll make my heart whisper
Because you told it to hush
I'll make my heart go to sleep
Because it's drunk on lust

And you were wise, to tell me so
But still I can't let thoughts of you
Go

I'll make my heart smaller
So it fits into a box
But that doesn't feel right
So I will not

My heart's too big
Its rooted deep inside of me
And why would I deny
This love that is
Mine

Now I'll
Let my heart grow and bloom
To the sky and down my roots, I'll
Let my love fill the air, 'til it's
Everything and
Everywhere
