Co'Ray

With the latest technology, becoming a singer is as easy as 1, 2, and 3 but, Co'Ray is talented singer/songwriter who doesn't need the bells and whistles to give an outstanding performance. Corey Ray McDonald better known as Co'Ray was born August 10, 1990 in Chicago, IL. He is an aspiring Pop/R&B singer who began singing at the age of 4 when his talent for music was first discovered singing in church. Since then, he has continued to perform throughout the Chicago area for the past 14 years.
Co’Ray began his music career at the age of 8 belting out one of the Jackson 5’s most popular hits, “Who’s Loving’ You” and “People Make the World Go Round” in local competitions. These times would stand out to be some of Co’Ray’s most pivotal moments in his music career because these were the very moments that Co’Ray realized his love for music. He has been involved in many projects and competed many times since he began his musical journey. He would go on to compete in over 22 talent pageants including Apollo Kids” and “America’s Most talented Kid”.
Co’Ray credits Michael Jackson and Beyoncé for being his biggest musical influences. Music over the years has become one of the biggest influences in Co’Ray’s life and has allotted him so many unbelievable opportunities. Just in the last year he participated in Big Kat Records’ Music Showcase that got him noticed by their A&R representatives. He also competed in FEETDCO’s (Full Effect Entertainment Theatrical Dance Company) “Reach for the Stars” talent completion where he placed 1st in the vocal and overall performance categories, rivaling some of Chicago’s most talented dance teams and music artists.
Co'Ray's voice is versatile, sometimes belting out powerful tunes, but he can also serenade you with the purity of his voice. He has been compared to artists as diverse as Maxwell and Chris Brown.
Co’Ray has gotten very involved in the music creating process, putting his life experiences to pen and paper. In his song “Come Back 2 Me”, he describes the pain he felt during the loss of his first love. He writes, “I need you here to hold me close, to feel my love don’t let me go…” His lyrics are both true and people of all creeds can relate.
Co’Ray has reached many highs over the span of his 14 year music journey and it is only the beginning of what is yet to come. He’s worked to improve his weaknesses and accent his strengths with his tenacious “go getter” attitude the sky is the limit. His determination and work ethic will take him far and soon Co'Ray will be a force in today’s music industry.
