Corey Barksdale

Corey Barksdale is an anointed and gifted singer, songwriter and artist, whose faith in God and commitment to helping others, keeps him grounded. His tremendous vocal talent and versatile songwriting abilities have granted him opportunities to share his music on several platforms.  

A native of Chicago, IL, singing and songwriting quickly became a constant, early on in Corey’s life. Corey was often encouraged to share these gifts at church, school and on community stages throughout his hometown.  “Yes, I remember singing as long as I’ve been speaking”.-Corey Barksdale

Today as a Gospel artist, Corey continues to be recognized for his incredible vocals, commanding stage presence and distinctive songwriting skills. 

 Corey’s unique sound has afforded him appearances on National Television shows and networks including, WGN (Singsation Gospel Show), The Word Network (Rejoice in the Word), TBN, TLN and The Steve Harvey TV Talk Show.

 Barksdale’s life and musical journey have been featured in The Chicago Defender, Dayton Daily News, Indigo Magazine, and a noted mention in Sister 2 Sister Magazine.

 In 2014, Corey was requested to perform his empowering single, “Persona” at the Full Gospel Baptist International Conference in Atlanta and the Chicago Gospel Music Festival.

 “Persona” is a theme song of identity, declaring the importance of walking in who God created us to be. As a much requested song, “Persona” made its debut on the Stellar Award Nominated online radio station, Bonnerfide Radio and Chicago radio stations, WYCA Rejoice Radio 102.3 FM and Inspiration 1390 AM WGRB.

 As a songwriter, Corey was also invited in 2010, by his good friend and college buddy BET Music Matters artist and Dove award nominee, Jonathan McReynolds, to co-write and record on the duet track “Why” from his Life Music Project.

 On the international music scene, Corey has toured in Sweden as a featured vocalist with the Ö-vik Big Band. When Corey isn’t creating or singing, he serves as a praise and worship leader under the ministry of Dr. Bill Winston at Living Word Christian Center in Forest Park, IL 

 New music is on the horizon for Corey Barksdale and through his profound testimony and music, Corey’s desire is for listeners and supporters gain a stronger faith in God, through submission, worship, praise and self-love.
