Introducing Corey Doucette Band

Corey Doucette
Introducing Corey Doucette Band Islander Corey Doucette has released his debut solo CD entitled Introducing Corey Doucette. It was launched at The Dunk in December and is now available.

Corey Doucette, from Winsloe, has been creating music ever since he picked up the guitar at the age of 14. Over the years he has played in, and written for such bands as Birmingham and Dreams among Stars, also doing many Canadian tours with both acts. Corey takes writing music very seriously. He says that he sees music as an art, using words and melodies to paint a vision, to capture feelings and thoughts. His solo album has a haunting feel, with songs that tell stories, sometimes dark, and sometimes uplifting. Choosing not be influenced by other artists, he took a break from listening to music to create this album. This was an experiment for the young singer songwriter “to find out what would be written with only your mind at the wheel.” The new album tells of love and life—from leaving the world behind, to tales of lonesome roads and sins to be told. Corey says he has come a long way since his punk rock days, saying that he has finally found his writing style, and is looking forward to sharing it with music lovers, where ever they may be.

The album was recorded at Lucas Raine Recordings, engendered, and mastered by Dave Skinner. It was produced by Corey Doucette, Andrew Hodgins, Dave Skinner. Guest artists on the album are Thomas Mears, Roger Carter, Julianne kalam. All material was written by Corey Doucette.

Bio

Corey Doucette has been creating music ever since he picked up the guitar at the age of 14. Over the years, he has played in, and written for, such bands as Birmingham and Dreams among Stars, crossing Canada many times with both bands. When these groups ran their course, Corey took a step back from music, to recharge and refresh. When he was ready, Corey decided to approach the writing of music very seriously. He says that he sees music as art, using words and melodies to paint a vision, to capture feelings and thoughts. His solo album has a haunting feel, with songs that tell stories, sometimes dark, and sometimes uplifting. Choosing not be influenced by other artists, he took a break from even listening to music to create this album. This was an experiment for the young singer songwriter as he wanted to find out what would be written with only your mind at the wheel. The new album tells of love and life—from leaving the world behind, to tales of lonesome roads and sins to be told. Corey has come a long way since his punk rock days, saying that he has finally found his writing style, and is looking forward to sharing it with music lovers, where ever they may be. Musically, Corey has decided to simplify for the time being and has enjoyed playing as a duo with cellist Laurie Forsyth. Laurie's approach to music is from a more classical vantage point, but her passionate playing adds shades of colors to the music, underscoring heartache and celebrating joy. They are currently honing thier live performances while working on new material to reflect this musical direction.
