Bio

A native of Far Rockaway, Queens, Corey was raised in Poughkeepsie, New York, an area usually referred to as :Upstate New York". No stranger to performance scene, Corey began rapping at the age of 12, showing off his amateur styles to an audience of supportive family and friends. He studied the major and not so major rap and hip-hop artists of 1990's such as 2Pac aka Tupak Shakur and Biggie Smalls, emulating their fascinating sounds and innovative moves. His education in music didn't stop there, however, since he could not help but admire the musical genius behind such artists as Teddy Pendergrass and Luther Vandross. He continues to have a high regard for and study the music legends of the times, including but not limited to Nas, Jay-Z, Lauren Hill, The Lox and Eminem.
Corey spent his teen years developing his rapping abilities and constantly writing music. His first professional performance took place when he was 18 years old, when he performed what he coins as Rap Poetry Music. From then on, he appeared at several college parties and venues, spreading his rap wisdom to audiences at the famous Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, SUNY New Paltz, in New York and with a group called the Filthy Family at Mcgillicuddzy's, a popular New Paltz nightclub that hosts several hip hop, rap and pop music events. Since "The Upstate Bounce" air on KISS FM 96.1 it received a 99% Kiss it review. Now "The Upstate Bounce" is being played in regular rotation on KISS playlist. If UPSTATE BOUNCE is any indication of what is in store for Corey as an artist in the future, it would be safe to say his future has already begun. Keep an ear and eye open for Corey Porter, bouncing all the way to musical fame.
