"Coriolis live review, 9/11/2010"

"Coriolis", a self described "industrial-synth-metal" band, is one I've had the pleasure of seeing several times this past year. They released their second album, "The Endless Funeral" earlier this summer, which is significantly different than their first release. It didn't have the immediate appeal that drew me to the first, but after repeated listenings I rank it in a class of it's own and it's now among my favorites in this genre. Unfortunately, keyboardist "KL" was absent due to illness, but frontman Jonathan (having recorded the 1st album by himself) was able to handle the key tones, sometimes using pre-recordings, sometimes playing it live. Coriolis performances are consistently top-notch. The theatrics, presentation, passion and raw energy is on a level I'd expect from a big-time professional band that's been around for years, which is where this band deserves to go. The talent poured into the amazing songwriting is equally impressive. - Karls Metal (blog)

"Outburn Magazine"

Coriolis sets inspirational poetic lyrics to retro industrial music. Distorted vocals, crunchy guitars, gothic grooves, and synth atmospheres accompany the industrial base on this thought provoking album.

Standout tracks: Between the Wheels, Resurrection Night, Happy Days.

If you Like: Razed in Black, CellDweller, Zeromancer. - Outburn Magazine

"Devolution Magazine"

Coriolis self titled album is an album of solitary beliefs fused with emotional experience and a string of rhetorical spoken word passages all told by the enchanting Jonathan Stamets.

This is an incredible mix of industrial, metal and gothic symphonies all melded together with eerie compositions and an underlying passion that is expressed throughout in all its glorious forms. Vocally Jonathan ranges between coarse twisted gruff harsh effects like the likes of Rob Zombie and yet the spoken word has un-missable tinges of a Pete Steel feel – which is sexy and dark with depth upon depth of something very sinister and disobedient.

Ethereal sequences are hand in hand with keyboards and powerful guitar riffs to make a project which anyone from any scene could and should get into. An awe-inspiring effort all round. - Devolution Magazine

"Wisemen Promotions"

One of the most unique albums I have heard in a long time. People are probably going to either love it or hate it. The mixing of metal, industrial and techno has been done before but not quite like this. With unique instrumentation to haunting phantom style vocals, this will be a great purchase for those searching for the unique. - Wisemen Promotions

"Automata Magazine"

Coriolis debuts with a fresh take on Industrial that creator Jonathan Stamets calls "synth-metal." Although both the vocals and guitar riffs resemble those of Metallica, the occasional use of symphonic programming and pennywhistles creates a more progressive vibe, making this more than just another paint-by-numbers industrial-metal album. Stamets fuses these elementswith state-of-the-art synths to create a groundbreaking sound.

He has crafted ten excellent tracks, avoiding much of the excessive repetition common to some industrial music. The poetically picturesque lyrics show a depth and maturity seldom heard in on debuts, indicating the influence of artists like Queensryche or Dream Theater. Both the synths and vocal processing ground the music securely in the electronic genre without becoming overbearing, making the album accessible to a much wider audience.

June 1st, 2010 marked a new day for Christian music. When Coriolis released their sophomore album, The Endless Funeral, music lovers were exposed to a new breed of dark melodies. In the words of one such survivor who reviewed the album, "All the veterans of dark rock wish they'd composed lyrics and vocal arrangements like the ones here included."

Unifying harsh, industrial-strength electronics with melodic, catchy songwriting is no easy feat, but Coriolis combines all these elements with heavy, metal-influenced guitars to create a sound that that is best described as "melodic industrial hard rock." But why stop there? "I'm tired of hearing lyrics that are just thrown together," says founder, Jonathan P. Stamets. "If you're going to spend countless hours making sure the music and programming are just right, why not go the extra mile and write poetic lyrics, that have some real meaning?"

But things didn't just come together overnight. Coriolis began in 2004, with Jonathan as its sole member. Jonathan released the Coriolis self-titled debut on Psychoacoustix Records, and quickly gained a fanbase in the underground industrial and goth scenes. But the relationship with the label didn't last long.

After the unexpected death of the founder of Psychoacoustix, the label closed down, and Coriolis officially became a "do it yourself" band. The next few years were spent getting a live band together, to bring the show on the road. "Nobody likes to see a show where one or two guys sing along

to a laptop computer and call it a concert," Jonathan observes. "I wanted to make sure our live show still had the full energy of a hard rock band."

When a second pressing of the debut album became necessary, Coriolis partnered with Youngside Records out of Florida. A special edition was released, with bonus track "Cry Wolf." This marked the beginning of a fruitful relationship between Coriolis and Youngside.

After playing a number of shows and festivals alongside artists like Deadstar Assembly, Shiny Toy Guns, Brian Head Welch, and many more, Jonathan began to realize how valuable his bandmates were to the overall sound of Coriolis. In 2009, guitarist Dan Schultz and drummer Jim Yanus were officially added to the band roster, and Coriolis began recording the concept album: "The Endless Funeral."
