Bio
Cornbread’s American roots/rock sound appeals to a wide audience. They regularly play to thousands and have opened for nationals Train, Shawn Mullins, Sister Hazel, country superstars Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith, Joe Diffie and even The Commodores and The Gap Band.
Cornbread and their song, “Alabama Home”, are featured in an upcoming Disney Touchtone film SWEET HOME ALABAMA starring Reese Witherspoon. Their single “Mona Lisa’s Smile”, produced by Grammy nominee Shawn Mullins, recently impacted commercial stations throughout the Southeast. Cornbread is also one of the ten bands nationally to be awarded the JIM BEAN EMERGING ARTIST GRANT for the year 2002.
Front man Keni Thomas and the backup singer Kelli Franklin are both featured in the Mel Gibson movie WE WERE SOLDIERS. Keni’s songs “Hero” and “Back Home” were personally chosen by the director for the “inspired soundtrack”.
Their video for “Angels in the Southland” is named number one most requested independent video by NOW TV, London UK. It broadcasted to over 40 countries throughout Europe, Asia and Australia.
Cornbread’s success comes from their widely appealing sound and six years of self promotion, through a huge fan base. Their story is timely and notable which has lead to prime showcase slots in some of the South’s largest music festivals and conferences, like Music Midtown (Atlanta) and Riverbend (Chattanooga).
