Bio

Cornelius Marx is a Classic Rock Jam Band based out of Minneapolis. The band has two clear leaders, Noah Cornelius and Nick Marx. Both Cornelius and Marx are singer/songwriters, however; their roles are a bit more specific when it comes to the band. Noah is the lead singer adding bits of guitar here and there throughout a concert, while Nick holds down the guitar anchor, adding harmonies and lead vocals. The current line-up also includes the gifted Matt Blake on stand up bass.

Although Cornelius Marx is a brand new band they are already getting busy. After co-founding the band together this April, Cornelius Marx performed at the Whiskey Junction and Arctic Studios in Minneapolis, The Gig in Milwaukee Wisconsin, and recently opened for Dead Flowers at Station 4 in St. Paul. All of the gigs went very well, a fan base is growing quickly, and they have been invited back to all venues. Also, the Arctic Studios performance was taped, and a compilation album is being made, which they asked Cornelius Marx to be a part of. The album will include one of the songs that were recorded that night. The band also plans to record a new album this fall in hopes to release it by January 1st 2012. “It’s amazing how fast we are moving; I have seen bands take years to come up with good material and right out of the gate Cornelius Marx is ready to record a full length album,” said Noah.

Noah Cornelius released his first album entitled Love All Over in February of 2010. The Love All Over album is comprised of 14 of Cornelius’s original songs and features him on rhythm guitar for the very first time. A musician of 13 years, Noah played in bands such as Bruce Cornelius (Gainesville, Florida) and Blueberry Diesel (Minneapolis, MN) performing most lead vocals and playing the drums. Upon recording Love All Over, Cornelius took on much more of a leadership role and subsequently began The Noah Cornelius Movement. A regular fixture at Downtime and Whiskey Junction, Cornelius played 37 shows spanning March 2010 through January 2011. During his Downtime and Whiskey Junction run, it was not uncommon for his matinee shows to draw 50-60 people, an awesome turn-out for an otherwise quiet afternoon at the Downtime. “Check out Noah Cornelius every first and third Wednesday at the Whiskey Junction. Originally hailing from Minneapolis, Nick Marx started playing music as a kid, and has been playing the guitar for the last 7 years. Marx taught himself to play listening to an eclectic mix of old time classic rock heroes, like Jerry Garcia and Jimmy Page, plus leaders of the new wave of pop rock, such as Jack Johnson, and Dave Matthews. Nowadays his main influences are the Doobies, The Black Keys, Joe Walsh, Keller Williams, Jimi Page, the Black Crowes, and Trey Anastasio. Nick is a calm, cool and collected rhythm player, but don’t expect him to bore you. Marx will take you for a ride with his smooth blues slide lick, or make your head spin with a chunky funky rhythm strum pattern. Overall, Nick is just a happy go lucky kid at heart who feels at home on stage and plays music because he likes to have fun.

The Cornelius Marx band is well on its way. The creativity level between the two lead musicians is very high. The new album seeks to showcase the Cornelius Marx song writing ability. The other main goal of the group is to get out and play shows and develop markets across the United States of America, beginning with the Mid-West. The band is willing to travel anywhere to play music and have fun. “The best part of this band is that I get to play with my best friend, Nick Marx,” said Noah Cornelius.
