Local band Corn Farmer Shamus rode an unusual, but ambient sound Wednesday at “Sanford Idol.” Unlike the rest of the performers at the Sanford Wine Company’s music competition Wednesday night, they brought West African drums and string instruments to perform a lively rendition of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”
The performance netted the band third place in the second week of the 10-week, open mic competition for the local music scene. The competition takes place every Wednesday at 8 p.m. at The wine bar, 114 S. Palmetto Ave. The competition has spiced up the wine company’s regular music nights..........

Uniting in Central Florida, the winter of '09, Corn Farmer Shamus
committed several months to arranging and composing their debut EP.
In spring of '10 they entered Morrisound Recording Studio and seven days later
their self-produced EP "Truth Against the World" was born. It was released Nov.9th, and is currently being distributed through Koch/E1, via SunFlowerLightRecords. Original members Todd Williamson, Shane Root, and Ben Browne, began playing together in Santa Rosa, CA circa 2006. Recently James Forster joined CFS adding depth and style to the mix. They related to each other deeply over their beliefs including mysticism, meditation, and music. This is evident in the work they have since produced. Corn Farmer Shamus music has been dubbed "ShwankRock", referring to the bottom of the bag variety of styles they draw from, as well as (if not more) the feeling of and ideals behind the music.
