Bio

Corruption Is King first surfaced during the summer of 2002 with a 3-piece blast of sonic girth bringing a solid track record in punk, noise, rock, old-school emo, pop and metal into a collective mix. The band later refined their progressively signature sound -by adding a 4th component in the spring of 2003- creating an impenetrable wall of guitar rock with hooks aplenty. The result is raw melody backed by focus, density, noise and intensity turned savory song oriented history in the making.

Possessing an urgent and gripping sound reminiscent of the greats: Quicksand, Failure, Helmet, Fugazi and Shiner -but all the while maintaining their own twist on noisy, thick-guitar rock- Corruption Is King’s sound bridges gaps. Corruption Is King has shared stages with such vital buzz bands as; Hot Water Music, The Distillers, Gibby Haynes (ex-Butthole Surfers), Rye Coalition, Midtown, Smile Empty Soul, Mock Orange and many more.

Further capitalizing on the momentum that Corruption has built with months of commercial alternative -and college- radio play in ‘04, the band hit Water Music Studios -in Hoboken, NJ- with producer John Agnello (Dinosaur Jr, Burning Brides, Jawbox) in November to begin recording its debut album “The Karmic Debt”. Final tracking and mixing was done at Headgear Recording in Williamsburg, Brooklyn In January 2005 (during the great blizzard of ’05).

Scott Durgin - Six solid strings, one connecting voice, "The Visionary”
(also leads Rocket Fuel Is The Key)
One man's pain never sounded so good. Thousands of small choices and 3 cities later lands this messenger behind the mic and next to the partners of one of the freshest and moving new rock sounds. Rocket Fuel Is The Key was the appetizer with its razor sharp guitars and tortured vocals, Corruption Is King completely satisfies the tastes with a wall of guitar and a serious melody you can't shake.

Matt Cook - Splintered wood, delivers crushing blows, "The Unstoppable"
This native Texan has a heart the size of Texas, with a drum style to match. The driving force behind the rhythm, there is no restraining the heavy hands of this powerhouse drum personality. The corporate Corruption Is King brand buzz starts here with no mistaking the depth and impact that it brings. A long time supporter of the Austin music scene, Mr. Cook's notoriety is almost legendary. The stories he could tell if he wanted to.

Davis - No frills, A girth that kills, "The Wildcard"
Out of a self-imposed exile from the rock world, Davis resurfaced just in time. Hailing from the urban industrial wasteland of Kansas City MO, Davis comes to CIK with a solid history in low end and the scars to show it. The inherent indie-KC influence sped the assimilation and fattened that which was already tipping the scales. Just one prescription away from a full deck, The Wildcard nails six strings - in style - like a 16 oz. Claw-hammer, melody included.

Satoshi - 4-string thunder from the East, "The Diplomat"
Texas native, Tokyo-Japan transplant sporting a sketchy musical past that may (allegedly), have involved doing some time as a studio/session/live whore and multiple-band-slut with styles ranging from noise/Satanic/metal/blast-core to pussy-ass-emo-pop. Rumored to have been a lighting wrench and a monkey worker with questionable acts on questionable tours. Known to repair an occasional bicycle or three and, sporadically, act as a sushi chef at secret Freemason meetings.
