"Hotpress Review of 'Live in Your Living Room' launch showcase at Sugar Club, June 2007."

"Corsairs are a lean, skinny-tie-sporting power trio. They look dressed to rip it up..the gentle Dylan-esque wheeze of the harmonica is pleasing but the group excels when they move up a gear, the more uptempo numbers are trashed elegant and gorgeous" - Hotpress (Killian Murphy)

Bio

Corsairs are a 3-piece band from Dublin and Kildare in Ireland. Formed in August 2005, they immediately recorded 7-track demo '24 Hours' in November 2005 to excellent acclaim. Since assembling a plethora of new songs they released another 3-track demo 'Catherine Wheel' recorded in 1 day in November 2006. Given the wealth of new material they had, instead of sitting around, releasing EPs and waiting for ‘that’ call like a lot of bands seem to do they decided to put their money where their mouths are to self-release an album in early 2008 which is being put together as this crap is being written. Comparisons are aplenty but rarely in parallel as there are no consistent, discernable reference points given the band’s eclectic music tastes which is borne out in the music which ranges from straight up poprock anthems to dance/rock rhythms and effects laden indie grooves, the common denominator being infectious, guitar-driven melodies and vocal/harmonies. Successfully resisting temptation to recruit members and seeking to make wall of sound and push the envelope for 3-piece guitar music. Building excellent live reputation, in 2006 they rocked Radio City, Whelans, The Sugar Club, The Hub, The Venue, Eamon Dorans and the Castlepalooza Festival in Tullamore, with The Blizzards, Delorentos and Republic of Loose, all to rave reviews from anyone who attended. In 2007 they are continuing the trend and as well as impressing a packed Sugar Club and outshining a host of established bands at the recent launch of www.Liveinyourlivingroom.com (check out the site where live footage and interviews will be available soon) they will be playing the Castlepalooza Festival on the 5th of August alongside Sister Sledge, The Flaws, Mainline, Star Little Thing and many others. Come to a show and don't be afraid to expect big things. Bringing people together with music and making them forget how shit life can seem sometimes was the reason to get together and sending them home with a few hooks stuck in their throbbing ears is the reason they’re still together. Please be patient as they demo the new stuff and expect news of the album towards the end of the year. "the group excel when they move up a gear, the more uptempo numbers are trashed, elegant and gorgeous" - Killan Murphy, Hotpress review of Live in Your Living Room in The Sugar Club, June 2007.
