Bio

Caucasian. Born in Central Wisconsin. The son of a polka-playing, former papermill worker. These aren't characteristics that one normally thinks of when imagining today's hip-hop artists but, then again, that's exactly what Cory Crush (formerly known as Arkane) likes to hear.

With one of the most unexpected, yet intriguing back-stories in hip-hop history, 23 year old emcee/producer, Cory Crush, has come out of nowhere to take Wisconsin's hip-hop scene (or lack thereof) by storm. While most semi-successful Wisconsinite hip-hop acts seek what they consider to be the "higher ground" of large cities such as Milwaukee and Madison, Cory Crush has made Central Wisconsin, specifically Stevens Point and Wausau, his stomping grounds. And stomp he does.

After being first turned on to hip-hop at the age of 12 by the music video for The Notorious B.I.G.'s "Hypnotize", Crush spent several years picking up tapes by the likes of Coolio, Busta Rhymes, and Bone Thugs N Harmony, soaking up the culture as much as he could. Eventually, at the age of 17, Crush decided to pick the mic up for himself. Six years later the rest is history in the making.

In the last six years, Crush has recorded six full-length album's worth of material, at the same time managing to obtain an Associates Degree in Marketing and hold down steady, full-time jobs to support his music career. In December of 2005, Crush decided to take his knowledge of the music industry and do what he's always wanted to do: Start his own record label. And so BattleScar Records was born.

Within the first eight months of BattleScar Records' inception, Crush had already been featured in news stories in the Wausau Daily Herald, Central Wisconsin Sunday, Stevens Point Journal, and Appleton Post-Crescent, in addition to having appeared on both WAOW TV 9 and WSAW Newschannel 7, and released his debut BattleScar Records album, Non-Fiction, to critical acclaim.

The album is available for purchase at all of Cory Crush's shows, and Radio Kaos Records (968 Main St - Stevens Point, WI).

Cory Crush can now be found performing live all over Wisconsin and working his new album, slated for a third quarter release in 2007. So please do yourself and your patrons a favor and bring Cory Crush's phenomenol, high-energy show to your venue today!
