Cory Joseph

A true music lover, and true musician, Long Beach based artist Cory Joseph started his music career as a contracted guitar player for other artists and organizations, which has lead to focusing mainly on his own creative outlet. Song writing.

"I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel, I just want to write good songs"

After the dissolving of his rock trio Sleepless Me, Joseph spent the better part of 2008 & '09 playing solo acoustic in bars and venues around town, as well as a handful of solo tours around the country. The time spent doing it alone lead to a natural progression of what his own sound would become. A more rootsy and soulful kind of rock.

His new album "Throwing Stones" is an ep all about relationships in family, love, and friends. Every song, a different story. The blues guitar driven song "Throwing Stones" was written about his relationship with his father, and the back-porchy "Till Ya Come Back Around" was created around a crucial piece of advice that his mother told him as a teenager after his first heartbreak.

"Guitar layers, tones, sounds, and soulful playing is very important to me as a musician, but nothing is as important as crafting a good song. That always comes first."
