"Great Shows I saw this weekend!"

Saturday night I went to the CD Release Party for Joe Pitts new cd "Just A Matter of Time". It was at the Cornerstone in NLR. Cosmic Biscuit opened the show. I love this band ya'll. They are so awesome and fun. Surprising stuff you would not expect. You might have a real bluesy song and then BAM "Led Zeppelin"! I got there about 45 minutes late but they were still on stage and they were rocking. -

"Weekend Shows"

Cosmic Biscuit plays at the Cornerstone Pub on Saturday night. I have seen them a few times now and just enjoy the hell out of them! They are a fun band to see. A little blues, a little classic rock and a few surprises. Cornerstone is in NLR on Main Street.

Long Road, Good Thang, I've Got the Answer

Cosmic Biscuit performs an eclectic variety of blues-rock-jam originals that captures the heart of all ages. They have an upbeat live show lead by one of the areas leading, if not only, female lead guitarists and vocalists, Kimi Griffin. Sharing dual lead on guitar and vocals is Keith Barnes. “Syclone” Sid Cottrell keeps things spiced up with his harmonica tones and backing percussion beats, along with lead and backing vocals. Rounding out the group is the rock-solid rhythm section of Larry Cuneo on bass and Jennie Barnes on drums.
Kimi started playing the guitar at 12 years old. She heard the blues for the first time when she was 18, the music was B.B. King and Bobby Bland, “Together Again Live”. She lived in Fordyce, Arkansas for 20 years and played with R&B Soul and blues group, “The Razz Band” for 13 years only to move to Pulaski County in 1999. Keith Barnes played guitar for “Little Cooper and The Drifters” out of St. Louis, performing on Beale Street with seasoned blues man. Keith and Sid played together with two different blues-rock bands “the Instigators” and “the Plank Spankers”, who were regularly on many bills with Kimi’s former band, playing the Pine Bluff Blues Fests, Cooks Family Reunion, Elks Club to name a few. Playing bass is Larry Cuneo, who joined the band after moving to Arkansas from North Carolina. Rounding out the line up, on the drums is Jennie Barnes, one of the hardest working female drummers on the scene. Collectively, as a group and with their former bands, they have performed with acts such as Kenny Wayne Sheppard, Bobby Rush, Johnny Taylor, Marvin Sease, Mel Waiters, Clarence Carter, Big Bill Morganfield, Little Milton, Denise LaSalle, Zac Harmon (at the 2006 Hot Springs Blues Fest), Vernon Garrett, Smokin Joe Kubek, and recently at Aquapalooza, Get Down Downtown Searcy, 2008 IBC in Memphis… and many more…
