Bio

COSMO - a true renaissance man - was born and raised in the parish of Westmoreland, a stone's throw from the famous Negril Beach in Jamaica. COSMO was a child prodigy - winning a number of singing competitions throughout the island. Although he was recognized at an early age as having the gift to becoming a world-class entertainer, COSMO migrated to the United States and dedicated his time and efforts to his academic pursuits. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from Columbia University and a Medical Degree from the State University of New York. COSMO is a Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Medical Director of Plumas Street Dialysis Center, a renowned Biomedical Researcher, a Scientist and Teacher whose discoveries have changed the clinical practice of medicine throughout the world. He is a member of the New York Academy of Science, The American Association for the Advancement of Science, The American and International Societies of Nephrology, and is recognized in Who is Who in Medicine, Science and Engineering.

COSMO has now returned to his "roots" with songs of social consciousness, social justice, peace, love and harmony. In his debut solo CD in 1998, entitled FIRE THIS TIME, COSMO set a standard for himself that most felt took reggae music to another place and to another dimension. The CD received rave reviews and has become a corner stone in the collection of most reggae aficionados. Working with legendary reggae musicians - including George 'Fully' Fullwood on bass - Santa Davis on drums - Tony Chin on guitar, the singer/songwriter wrote 10 of the 11 tracks on FIRE THIS TIME and produced the album as well.

This time (2004) COSMO is back with another scorcher entitled GET UP AND JUMP. The CD is universally felt to be his best effort yet. Like his rise to fame in medicine, COSMO seems destined to leave his mark on reggae music, the symphony of his homeland. Like vintage wine, COSMO seems to get better with age. His magnificent voice with absolute clarity seems to permeate the music like strands of ribbon in a Jamaican wind. Before one gets carried away with the music, one only need to listen to his words to realize that COSMO is something special, and that GET UP AND JUMP will be a part of our consciousness for years to come. This CD featured legendary Jamaican drummer Leroy "Horsemouth" Wallace - star of the classic movie Rockers, along with Fully Fullwood, Tony Chin, Hux Brown, Tena Grant, and Jawge Hughes. Other players include master percussionist James Henry and members of the COSMO BAND (Bobby Cobb, Emsley "Razor Blade" Fraser, Steve Krchniak, Rogelio "Jun" Lopez,Abdul Waahid).

Over the years COSMO has played numerous venues with some of the biggest names in Reggae. These include Toots, The Wailers, Lucky Dube, Burning Spear, Pato Banton etc. He has also performed with rock and role legends such as "The snake" - Harvey Mandel and Big Brother and The Holding Co at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. His favorite venue however is playing to a full house in the famed Fillmore in San Francisco. COSMO is now a regular headliner at his performances, with crown as large as 10,000 adoring fans. COSMO's fans are as diverse as the man himself. It is quite common to see kids in strollers and grandparents in wheelchair at his concerts. They have one thing in common - the love of COSMO music.
