Bio

Cosmo Black's shows mash frenetic looped samples, pulsing rhythmic synths, lights, smoke and sweat into one continuous swirling set of indie-dance originals and remixes.

Since launching live shows in late 2009, Cosmo Black and band have played leading venues in Adelaide, Sydney and Melbourne, sharing the stage with Delphic (UK), Miami Horror, The Swiss, Midnight Juggernauts DJs and World’s End Press. They’ve signed with a booking agency 5/4 Entertainment, and had rave reviews for their demos and remixes from bloggers across the globe, from Mexico to Belgium.

First single, When Night Becomes the Morn, featured an exclusive remix by chart topping, 'We-No-Speak-Americano' super-producer DCUP. Both the original and DCUP remix were spun on triple J, as well as picked to feature in-store in more than 40 leading fashion chain stores (Adidas, Nike, Portmans, Levis, Just Jeans, Quiksilver, Rip Curl). It immediately punched into the Top 20 Popular tracks on the HypeM.com charts (http://hypem.com/popular), and was met with acclaim from respected online sources:

Nashville Nights – “it’s hard to get this one out of your head” (http://nashvillenightsblog.com)
Vacay Wave – “here’s the latest insta-classic” (http://www.vacayvitamins.com)
Stoney Roads – “the highly underrated band of 2010” (http://www.stoneyroads.com)
Too Many Sebastians – “quickly becomes stuck in your head…[the single] is where it’s at.” (http://toomanysebastians.net)

October 2011 saw single Let the Cold Air in (feat. Yuko Nishiyama) self-released, with remix by UK synth wizard The Emperor Machine. It was licensed by Top Shop for use in the USA. Respected blogs were overwhelmingly positive:

Me and All My Friends - "this will be the track that breaks Cosmo Black. This is the one they’ve got completely right."
Stoney Roads - "[the single] compares to those trading in international currencies (Swiss Francs, French, UK)."

Now, the present.
After hearing the Cosmo Black bootleg remix of Yeah Yeah Yeahs' Maps (which hit #12 on HypeM Popular Charts), New York producer Chris Moore (Yeah Yeah Yeahs/Foals/TV on the Radio/Yeasayer/Midnight Juggernauts) offered his NYC studio to produce the next Cosmo Black single. Only he liked more than one demo, so that single has turned into a debut EP, to be released early in 2012.

The first scratchy demo from the Heartbreak and Milkshakes EP, put on Soundcloud in November 2011, garnered 1000+ plays in the first afternoon and multiple blog posts before it was made private.

It's fair to say this is an anticipated release.
