Bio
Cougar Express began to form in late 2007 when founding members John Burke and Brad Hill bonded over a mutual love of Southern rock and blues rock. Mountain, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Allman Brothers; these are just a few of the bands that would prove to be influential during early songwriting. Next came the recruitment of Louisville music scene veteran Robbie Scott (Christiansen, Your Highness) for lead guitar. Finally, the band was rounded out with the addition of the rhythm section including Chase Coryell on bass and Toby Van Kleeck on drums.
Although the initial goal was to create enthusiastic, blasting, southern rock, Cougar Express' sound has evolved into much more. Rock, Soul, Blues, Pop, Jam; all of these genres are present in the collection of songs that has come to comprise a typical set list.
Band objectives have now shifted to continued songwriting to round out a solid debut full-length album, the creation of merchandise, and the inevitable small tours in the region to begin making a name for the band.
But all in all, Cougar Express is about five buds playing raging, raucous , entertaining tunes that is fun for the audience and the musicians.
