"Thomasville Band opens for "Rolling Stone's" Top Country Artist"

Thomasville- A Thomasville band hits the big time opening for "Rolling Stone" Magazine's Top Country artist.
The band Counter Point will open for country music star Trent Tomlinson Thursday night at a concert in Tallahassee. The group has already found local success getting airtime on 103.7 with one song from their album.
"I'd like to tell you it was talent and musical experience but I think no matter what it is that you do it's all about ambition and being able to you know knock down people's doors and get your stuff out there, and don't take no for an answer most of the time," said Lance Farlow, Counter Point.
Tickets for Thursday's show are by invitation only. You can only get them by listening to B-103. If you don't go to the concert you can check out the band at www.counterpointlive.com.

"Local band to open for country star"

THOMASVILLE — In less than a year since forming, big things are happening for Counter Point, Thomasville’s next big band.
After releasing their first album, “The Story” in June, the band has added two new members, had a song on the radio, and is set to open for one of country music’s biggest stars this week.
Thursday, Counter Point will share a bill with Trent Tomlinson, who was recently named Rolling Stone Magazine’s 2007 Top Country Artist. The local band will be playing a B-103 Radio event at Stetson’s on the Moon in Tallahassee, Fla., beginning at 8 p.m.
In recent months, founding members Lance Farlow and Danny Powers, who both play guitar and sing vocals, have recruited drummer Joe Willingham and bass player Josh Clements. “It’s easier to express our music as a full band. It makes the songs a lot better,” Farlow said.
“It makes us a lot better live,” Powers added. “We get a lot fuller sound with Joe and Josh in the band.”
Willingham and Clements said they were excited about joining the band. “I’ve always wanted to be in a band. It’s something that I love to do, and it’s good to have the opportunity, especially now with all the stuff we have going on. I’m pretty much living my dream,” Willingham said.
Clements jokingly said he was forced into joining the band, but he’s actually a big fan of Powers’ and Farlow’s music. When they offered him a spot on the roster, he jumped at the chance.
“It’s almost like a band you’d dream of, because we’re all friends already, and everything just clicks,” Clements said. “It’s almost like a family I guess.”
The group has been playing at clubs, bars and parties across the region in recent months and “practicing like crazy” in preparation for Thursday’s gig. “This is definitely the pinnacle of our career so far,” Farlow said. “We’ve played in front of people our whole lives, but never something of this magnitude.”
“This could open a lot of doors for us, and since we’ve been together, a lot of doors have opened,” Powers said. “We want to be the best band to ever come out of Thomasville.”
Just last week, one of Counter Point’s newest songs, “What a Night,” was played on 103.1 radio. Tickets to Thursday’s show are only available by listening to B-103 for instructions.
