Counting the Quiet

Counting the Quiet is a Kansas City based alternative rock band. We aren't sure if we fit in a particular "genre box" and we prefer to keep it that way, always looking for new influences. In short, if we like the way it sounds, we'll turn it into something our audience will really enjoy! 

Our collaborative creative process allows each of our five members to brings their own unique content and technique to our music. Lead vocalist and lyricist, Joanna Berkebile, draws her powerful voice from a background in opera, her confident, direct performance style from years of experience with blues music. Joanna's lyrics aim for your heart and your gut and sometimes hit a bit of both. Lead guitarist Will Keen never fails to draw our audiences in with his intense presentation and virtuosity. His guitar is a second "voice" in all our music. Tom Hughes (second guitar), brings his experience playing in the southern CA punk scene, contributing many ideas for catchy themes and riffs that make our music memorable. Eric Laundy (bass) always adds his enthusiasm to our performances and shares his innovative ideas for our songs as we are constantly honing our craft. Ron Laundy (drums) is the ever-present backbone of our operation. His rhythm keeps us on track and gives our music the momentum to keep on rocking!
