Bio

At any performance, “Country Roads” shows are full of fun, up-tempo, foot-stompin music that gets the crowd involved, singin’ and dancing’ away. This band delivers on its promise of hot pickin’, strong vocals, driving rhythm, and smiles from the stage to the dance floor. A blend of old, new and modern country music performed by a group of very professional and talented musicians. Here is a different look at Country Music with a personal style. The band has a fresh appeal to their audiences, a twist to their songs and an excellent method of performance. Comfortable in front of all crowds, large or small, in both public and private settings, they consistently offer excellent entertainment.

You are sure to enjoy “Country Roads” at your next function..

ALANNA PAGTAKHAN - Bass player in the band
To answer the popular question as to where her last name comes from, it is from the Island of the Philippines. Music has always played a big part in her life. Her mom played piano, her sisters sang and played guitar, so she picked up a little bit of everything. She recorded her debut album (back in the eighties when CD’s were non existent) “Exception to the Rule” with her all girl band ‘Sweet Hues’ playing electric guitar and keyboards. Later Alanna met Sue Kasper through the Bay Area music scene and joined forces to create a jazzy, easy listening duet called ‘Moon Light Serenade’. This is where she discovered her love of playing bass. Through mutual friends Alanna and Sue met drummer James Robertson and singer Bud Dolan put together an amazing harmony country band called ‘Country Roads’. There is nothing like being able to play with talented musicians and singers. Alanna states “It is such a fun diverse group of people, and they really have a lot of fun performing and it shows.

SUE KASPER - Lead Guitar player and Vocals in the band
Sue started performing in a band professionally when she was eighteen years old. Her first group ‘Lady’ was an acoustic trio with 3 part harmonies which later evolved into a five piece “All Woman” band performing at clubs.
Performing for years around the Bay Area clubs Sue later helped create the ‘Charms’, a tribute band to the all girl groups of the 60’s. Dressed in full costume with Bouffant wigs, she really learned some showmanship. For ten years the ‘Charms’ performed California State Fairs and Festivals opening up for many famous groups like the ‘Drifters’, the ‘Everly Brothers’, and the ‘Coasters’ to name a few. During her ‘Charms’ years, she also performed with an “All Woman” country band called the ‘Wild Angels’ who opened for Ty Herndon. Also during this time she got a great opportunity to use her technical musical skills and wrote midi sequences for the famous Maxis game Sim City 2000 and Sim Farm. She also had the opportunity to write music for independent film and a specialized bikes sales video.
Later down the road Sue moved to Sacramento where she found her musical outlet by writing original country music for the ‘River City Boyz’, a vocal trio. When she stepped in to cover the tenor part for the group they decided to expand to become the band they are today ‘Country Roads’.
She is happy to say that all her experiences have helped her become the musician she is today. With her incredible harmony experience she is a natural at singing tenor for ‘Country Roads’. The blues lead guitar really helps her with the country licks. She is currently honing her skills as a country “Chicken Pickin” lead guitarist, and is really enjoying it.
She looks forward to great things for ‘Country Roads’ and getting their own original music out there!

BRANDON ADAMS - Rhythm Guitar player and Vocals in the band
Brandon has been in music just about all his life and started playing violin at age 4. His 1st singing performance was ‘The Gambler’ at age 5 at the Napa Town and Country Fair in a local talent show.
Brandon’s father, Tom Adams was in a local band, Chute #5, throughout the 80’s playing country and oldies. Once in a while Brandon would get up on stage with the band to play and sing.
Throughout school Brandon was involved in music starting in choir in the 7th grade and continuing through graduation. By his senior year, Brandon was in 4 s separate choirs: Men’s Chorus, Concert Choir, Chamber Singers, and Vocal Music Workshop. In 1990 he traveled through Europe and in 1992 went to Canada with the choir. During this time he also became self taught in guitar playing with friends any chance he got.
After high school Brandon continued in music as a singer in Rain Men, an accapella 4 part harmony group which sang all around the bay area before rediscovering his country roots.
Around 1995 Brandon took some time off to attend to his personal but never missing an opportunity to play or sing.
After answering an ad for Country Roads, he found his calling again. It put together his passion for both awesome harmonies, and fresh country music. Brandon is e
