Bio

Course of Ruin hails from Central Texas. The band roster boasts keystone members of local favorites Everyday Hate (RIP), Inhabit (RIP), and Deadlift (RIP). The formation of the band began in December of 2002 with Roland (EDH) and Walter (Inhabit) in a tiny rehearsal room at the Band Co-op. They quickly realized that they were onto something, and knew that it was time to incorporate the ideas and perspectives of a full band. Shaun (Edgemere), Randy and Ben (Deadlift) would soon complete the machine, and Course of Ruin would begin their rise to power. The band is already capturing the attention and praises of national favorites like American Headcharge, BloodSimple, Trivium, and The Agony Scene.

Would anyone like to have their heads kicked in? Course of Ruin’s sound is brutal – there are no two ways about it. However, the aggressive riffing is augmented with nuances of melody; intertwined with the dynamic changes that drive each song. The band combines the precise attack of machine-like modern metal riffs, with some overtones of progressive metal, and the relentless aggression of old-school East-coast styled hardcore. This might sound like a strange mix, but combine these elements in the right proportions and you will have the amalgam of styles and texture that is Course of Ruin. Fans of heavy music have been forced to listen to far too much compromised, corporate swill. You won't find that here. Anyway you slice it, Course of Ruin is pure Texas metal. Fans of Chimaira, Hatebreed, Killswitch Engage, and Machine Head will love this band!

Is there anything more pathetic than a loser with a microphone who has nothing to say? Course of Ruin’s lyrics are aggressive, subversive and yet laced with inextricable hope. Most of the band’s lyrical content is based on either personal experiences, or derived from an awareness of societal decline, and the hope of reconciling ourselves with truth. The band has no illusions about the fact that the extreme music will not appeal to the faint of heart, nor will the bold ideas or messages in the lyrics appeal to closed minds. This is not for everyone.

Course of Ruin has just completed a three song Demo which is immediately available for download on several websites and of course…at shows. The band is currently writing, and preparing to record their first full length CD this Fall.
