Courtney McCall is one whom cannot be forgotten. I remember the first time we met she laid down vocals for a chorus that landed on my debut album's first track "Caught Up" (www.SoundClick.com/MikeBoston). This was no coincidence. Never heard of her and never heard her music until that day and ever since that first encounter in the studio, I knew she had special talents.
From then we went on to record many more songs together. There would be no use for another female vocalist for the next two years other than with Courtney. Her style is original and we tend to find it just about impossible to find another artist to whom she may be compared, not to mention the fact that she is receptive to criticism and has a very agreeable personality. Oh and let's not forget the fact that she's gorgeous!
From her loyalty to the music and dedication to people in her life such as her daughter Zaire it was easy to assess that Ms. Mecca was serious about commitment and would remain an active participant in the musical network. I've also had the honor to adore her performing live at the Milky Way in Jamaica Plain Massachusetts when we performed our song before the public. Bio
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, USA. This versatile singer/songwriter developed an appreciation for music at an early age. No matter how hard times became, the music never stopped playing at home. Courtney would often escape into the realm of her favorite songs as she sang along and made them her own. The soulful expression of artists like Aretha Franklin touched her heart and eased her soul. Before long, these songs became an inextricable part of who she was. As a teenager, Courtney began keeping a journal and writing her own lyrics as a means of self-expression. It was her hope to eventually inspire others with her own unique sound, as she had been inspired in the past.
At the age of 15, her high school choir director heard her singing in the halls with a group of friends and was instantly impressed with her talent. She soon became active in the local music arena adding top-notch performances in choir groups and talent shows to her list of achievements. She began recording professionally in 2001, earning writing credits as well as being featured on Mike Bostons debut Album Baptism by Fire. When she joined Diamond Mind Entertainment in 2002, she recorded her first solo track Daswassup, featuring Kwashe of The Original Black Kings her first time in the studio with him.
Courtney has often been compared to the likes of Mary J. Blige and Jill Scott due to the raw emotion contained in her lyrics and the power with which she delivers. Shes had the opportunity to bless audiences with her sound having opened for Joe Budden and Jagged Edge in 2003. Shes also performed for Mike Boston at his CD Release Event in 2003, The 5th and 6th Annual H.B.N.N. Fall N Love Fashion Show, Boston Caribbean Carnival-2004, as well as having performed at local venues in Boston, New York, Atlanta, and Miami.
