Bio

After many years of background vocals, musical accompaniment, writing, and arranging for others, Courtney boldly emerges as a solo artist. Influenced by the vocal styles of her parents who are both vocalists and musicians, Courtney is a delicate hybrid of vocal beauty. Ranging in presentation from the smooth precision of Lalah Hathaway and Lisa Page to the gritty intensity of Vanessa Bell Armstrong, Courtney delivers gospel in terms of jazz, soul, country, and classical. The happy marriage of lyrical content and musical interpretation present an artistry which is second to none.
Courtney began her journey into music at the age of three when she began singing and playing instruments in the church’s choir. She was a featured percussionist in her father’s gospel choir, Divine Grace, at the New Orleans’ Jazz and Heritage Festival at the young age of four, followed by an exciting appearance at the World’s Fair at age eight. She has continued since those formative years to work in ministry and was even ordained as a minister of the gospel in 2005. Courtney has enjoyed a wealth of joyful experiences as a minister of music, musician, and praise and worship leader for several churches and organizations to include the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and African American Congress Gospel Choir of Tulane University. She has traveled with stellar award winning gospel artist Dewitt Johnson as a background vocalist, and house band keyboardist, appearing on the nationally aired television show Touching the World Music Ministries. Courtney has also executed artistic ability as an actress playing the role of Mother Pearl, while still being a background vocalist, musical arranger, and composer for the first gospel movie musical stage play, "Aint No Sunshine When He’s Home" written and directed by Clyde Jones, which starred Cuba Gooding Sr., Todd Bridges and Sean Levert. Courtney has also sung background vocals for gospel artists Taralyn Ramsey and Bishop Onassis Jones & Justified, and international pop singer Tino Tomas who is produced by Claudio Mangione of Sony Music Group.
