Bio

There are several sides to every story and Courtney Sanchez is no exception. She is a well-known vocalist, actress, and performer; She is also a renowned public speaker and advocate; as well as, a community volunteer and mother.

Courtney the vocalist, actress, and performer: Courtney Sanchez has been in music, theater, and dance for over 30 years. She has performed with and alongside Brannen Temple, Guy Forsyth, Patrice Pike, Malford Milligan, Matt Wilson, Nakia, and more. For the last 18 years, she has been performing with the cover band, The Atlantics as their lead female singer and has been featured in The Knot Texas and Modern Bride Magazine. She was also the lead vocalist of the 15 piece big band, the Monster Big Band for two years. She is also a featured vocalist at Riverbend Church. In 2010, she began her own band and can be seen singing at numerous venues and events around town including HAAM Benefit Day, the opening of the Topher Theater, etc. As a member of Austin’s theater community, she has performed in some of Austin’s most loved musical performances including Dreamgirls, Fame, Porgy & Bess, and RENT.

Courtney the public speaker and advocate: Courtney Sanchez has been working in the nonprofit world for over a decade and is the executive director of her own project based charity JONAH and survivor support initiative Survive2Thrive Foundation. A survivor of domestic violence, she tirelessly works with other organizations to create opportunities, resources, and awareness around her cause. Courtney has a diverse background in volunteerism and community philanthropy. She is a voice of the Austin-base I Live Here I Give Here and a retired member of the Austin chapter of the Junior League. She was also a Foundation Board Trustee for SafePlace Austin for 5 years. Most recently, she has been an active public advocate and lobbyist for the Texas Council on Family Violence and serves on their public policy committee.

In May of 2012, she was honored to be the cover of Austin Women’s Magazine for her work as a vocalist and an advocate of domestic violence. Last but not least, she is a loving mother to her two beautiful children, daughter Kendall and son Brendan.
