Bio

Like a gust of wind that knocks you off your feet, from four completely different lands, comes a band of astronomical proportions. Gathered to form a covalent bond, these molecules, in their excited state, are the basis for rock fusion. In an era swallowed by greed, terror, pop success and media glory, much music has all but dissipated from its elemental forms. Driven on smooth, persistent drum rythyms, funky and melodic bass lines coupled with a guitar sound roaring so hard it makes the blues cry, Covalence music is the music of the future.

After meeting during their sophomore year in college at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Covalence was formed. Living on what they deemed the "Death Row" of Van Meter Hall in the Central housing area, these four broke every housing code and law in the book to create a bond that would lead to the creation of these funky rock & roll songs.

The band consists of bassis and vocalist Andrew Simpson (from Swampscot, MA), percussionist Luke Batten (from Pittsfield, MA), guitarist and vocalist Mike Sticco (from Syracuse, NY) and keyboardist and guitarist Matt Araujo (From Long Island, NY). The original line-up of the band (consisting of Dillon Ryan on guitar in Matt's place) formed in February of 2004. Matt joined during the fall of 2005 and the band continues to play in the Amherst area.

Coming from four completely different musical backgrounds, the members of Covalence have a unique sound driven by the squealing guitar, solid bass lines and the meanest drum lines holding down the beat and dropping a feel that is as absorbent of live crowds as a sponge is to water. Look for Covalence playing a show in your area in the near future.
