Covenhoven

Joel Van Horne is a native of Denver, Colorado and has been an active part of the vibrant Denver music scene since he could first pick up a guitar. He has been the chief songwriter and frontman of many different groups over the years and now for the first time, he's going it alone. But having been raised on folk music (primarily Bob Dylan), the idea seems and feels far less foreign to him than you might expect of someone that's spent the better part of their life in various collaborative situations. The center of this new direction for Joel is all in the name. "Covenhoven" is the name given to the cabin that Joel's grandfather built in the Medicine Bow forests of southern Wyoming before he was born. The spirit of this place and Joel's memories and experiences growing up there are the inspiration for this new music. It's the continuation of an idea. The capturing of a moment in time, or many moments... set to a rich and emotive soundtrack.
