Bio

Coyotes was formed in 2010, when singer-songwriter Duz Mancini relocated from the bright lights and sprawling hills of Los Angeles to the most developed city in the Caribbean – New Orleans, Louisiana.

Mancini was raised on an extensive record collection culled from his father’s years of experience in the music industry. As a kid, his favorites included The Byrds, The Beatles, The Kinks, Badfinger, Neil Young, and Tom Petty, to name a few. This upbringing gave him a keen awareness for the diversity of American songwriting, and sparked within him an early recognition that music would be his path in life. Years later, with his records in tow, Mancini set out for New Orleans, a city known for welcoming many a wayward soul. Its swampy atmosphere would prove to be the perfect catalyst for his own brand of cosmic-country rock.

As a band, Coyotes has been ambitious from the start. After kicking things off with their sold-out first show at Prytania Bar (one of the group’s favorite New Orleans dives), the group has gone on tour across the country. They’ve been back to Mancini’s hometown of L.A., and have played in Chicago, Austin, Nashville, St. Louis, Tampa Bay, and most everywhere in between. In that time, they’ve appeared at major festivals across the South, including Voodoo Festival, Road to Hangout Festival, BUKU Music & Arts Festival, French Quarter Festival, and others.

Coyotes has been recognized on a local and national basis, with reviews and features appearing in publications such as American Songwriter Magazine, New Orleans’ Time-Picayune, Off Beat Magazine, and Paste Magazine, who included the group as one of their “12 Bands to Watch in Louisiana.” Most recently, Coyotes performed live on the historic WWOZ radio station in New Orleans.

Coyotes have released 3 self-produced EP's. Now they have set up shop at The Parlor, a studio in New Orleans, marking this their first EP being done with an outside producer.

Over the course of his time in New Orleans, Mancini has formed bonds with a group of musicians who now constitute the fully-realized version of Coyotes. The band currently includes bassist-vocalist and co-writer Adam Stewart, pedal steel-guitarist Derek Duplessie (also of The Kid Carsons), and drummer Chris Littlejohn (also of Bent Denim and Gold & the Rush).

Coyotes has shared stages with acts such as Delta Spirit, Trombone Shorty, The Plain White T’s, Galactic, Dale Earnhardt Jr. Jr., The Revivalists, Moon Taxi, Generationals, Hurry for the Riff Raff, and others at venues across the country. In New Orleans, they’ve become regulars at famed local spots like One Eyed Jacks, House of Blues, Joy Theater, Howlin’ Wolf, and the legendary Tipitina’s.
