"Coyote Theory"

Who: Coyote Theory
Song: Vibe
What They Sound Like: Indie-fueled jazzy pop. Catchy and poppy, perfect for relaxing on a summery afternoon.
Written By - Randall
Why You’ll Love Them: Jazz-pop is one of those truly disarming genres that can make you literally go, “What the heck am I listening to here?!” There’s a reason that most bands pander to the simple intonations of rock n roll or pop; it’s largely easy and simple to pull off. Enter Coyote Theory, a truly courageous collection of musicians out to defy the standard of indie music by taking on a genre so off-the-wall as Jazz-pop and injecting it with an array of experimental rock beats and airy vocals.
The complexion of their tunage is a truly marvelous mellange of ecelctic interludes and relatable beats that seem to be one step away from the top 40 airwaves. A still developing independent band from Orlando, Florida, Coyote Theory defines the old addage “act like you’ve been here before.” Even though they are currently unsigned, (and believe me it won’t be that way for long) these guys know how to create a multibarbed musical hook like they’ve been polished and prepped for a decade. It’s bouncy and just begging for replayabilty while being energetic without succumbing to the dredges of bubble gum.
Part of their sweetness comes from the falsetto harmonies that soar in and out of their choruses. Lead singer Colby Carpinelli has a marvelous voice that sounds alot like - dare I say it - Jason Mraz in a lot of places. I kid you not people, he’s a charismatic joy to listen to at times. Combine that with the vocal synthesis of the assisted high-pitched vocals of Lane Bohman and Grayson Hendren and this is some seriously intoxicating stuff.
The melodies are gorgeously weaved as well. Carpinelli’s keyboards are Taylor Eigsti-like and give them a sort of stripped down rendition of The Fray in parts. Combine that with Bohman and Hendren’s guitars and the result is akin to a dynamic journey down the everglades of life, love, and living. There’s also alot to say about drummer Jayson Lynn, his drum lines have that tickey-tack feel that sounds so much like The Bravery’s classic song “Honest Mistake” in parts that I had to go listen to that particular song just to make sure that I wasn’t going insane. Lynn’s drums are untiring and pair like fine wine and aged cheese with the percussion work of his badnmate Hendren.
Coyote Theory is more than just a simple band on the rise. With a clear dedication to challenging the status quo of modern music they could very well be game changers. Orlando should be proud of their native sons because there’s something special about these guys. Get further acquainted with their sprightly melodies because they don’t have anywhere to go but up. - The Midnight Bandwidth

"Coyote Theory"

Technical bands and fun bands are usually thought of as opposites. You don't usually find an extremely catchy math-rock band, while most pop music stays within conventional structures. Coyote Theory destroys all misconceptions that technical and poppy can not go together. Single "Vibe" combines jazzy piano patterns similar to those played by The Reign Of Kindo while vocalist Colby Carpinelli shows off his Nate Ruess-like vocal range, easily soaring up into the highest registers. "This Side Of Paradise" holds more of a Circa Survive feel within the technical guitar riffs, and "It's A Trap" embraces more of a straightforward rock feel, while still feeling unique. Coyote Theory is one of the most unique bands I've heard in quite a long time, easily satisfying my need for catchy hooks while remaining technically proficient. Color is excellent in showing off every one of the band's talents, and is easily a frontrunner for the best EP I've heard this year. Stream "Vibe" and purchase the album on the band's Bandcamp page here. - Muzik Dizcovery

"Daily Fresh Pick"

Coyote Theory – Orlando, Florida
Coyote Theory is an Indie/Jazz-Pop/Experimental Rock band (mouthful I know) who comes to us from Orlando, Florida. Although the band is playing it very smart and releasing their new songs slowly to their fan base…I can tell very early on that every one of their future musical offerings are going to be amazing based on the first song that they are currently pushing…hurry up and release another song guys!
Melding distinctive vocals with real emotion, percussion with originality and a sexiness to them and lyrics that tell a story…Coyote Theory is positioned to do some damage real soon!

"Artist Of The Day: Coyote Theory"

Wolf bands are so 2006. Let's hear it for a coyote band!

Coyote Theory -- singer-pianist Colby Carpinelli, singer-guitarist Lane Bohman, bassist Grayson Hendren and drummer Jayson Lynn -- could be the We The Kings of Orlando, with a slick look and very catchy power-pop sound that would sound right at home on the Warped Tour. Think Fountains of Wayne, Plain White T's or (in the case of Vibe) a disco-fied Maroon 5. - Tampa Bay Times
