BandPop

A singer-songwriter and successful board game developer, Craig Andrew Browne writes original inspirational adult contemporary and easy listening country songs about love and loss, success, hope, the beauty in the land and the joy in living.

Biography

“Take a dose of John Denver at his gritty best, mix in a little Harry Chapin and Don McLean, and add a dash of the wordy honesty of Paul Kelly and you’ll get a sense of his style. His first CD, For the Dream, is a collection of heartfelt songs , designed to inspire others to share his joy in living. The songs are simple and generous, tackling topics which are mainly inspirational. There is nothing avante garde or jarring here. In a way which is refreshing in this day of dark dirges. His songs easily cross the barriers of age and genre, and would be as suitable for a youthful audience as they are for an older one, and as appealing to those who love classic country as those who prefer gentle folk songs.” [Magdelena Ball]

Composing on piano and guitar, Craig Andrew Browne describes his music as inspirational adult contemporary and easy listening country, somewhere between John Denver, Richard Marx and Coldplay. He chooses to write about subjects such as: success, hope, the enjoyment of life, the beauty in the land, and love won and love lost.

"As my children started to grow up, they started singing my songs. So, I made myself a promise that I would never write a song that I wouldn't be proud to hear my children singing" says Craig. "Words and music are an amazing way to grab attention and to share feelings and ideas with people. And I think you need to be careful what you get people singing."

Beyond singing, Craig is a successful board game developer, with titles including 'Deal or no deal', ‘Bert’s family feud’, 'Childrens charades', 'The price is right' and 'Compatibility.' The latter was picked up by Mattel in 1996 and distributed in 10 countries and 5 languages. He now also runs a successful company selling its own training and development product, called the ‘Compatibility Communication System’ to organisations all over the world. Lyrics

For The Dream

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

One day I'll be singing with ten
thousand of my friends
A wondrous, sea of faces
Joined by, common feelings
And holding fast to love and hope -
And all that these defend
And all that these defend.

Oh, one day I'll be ringing, the nation's
wake up bell
And I've imagined all that this would mean
And I would give it all for the dream
Yeh, I would give it all for the dream
Yeh, I would give it all for the dream.

Now, some will think me simple
Oh yeh he’s a pollyanna fool
But I'd rather polarise than not be seen
So I will give it all for the dream.

One day I'll be singing with ten
thousand of my friends
Asking you, to raise your hands
Make a change, if only tiny
For the barely breathing state of grace -
We must find again and save
We must find again and save

Oh come on raise your voices and
set all the people free
Can you imagine all that this would mean?
Well, I would give it all for the dream
Yeh, I would give it all for the dream
I would give it all
This is my wake up call
I would give it all for the dream.

Lord Take Me Now

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

Lord take me now
While I'm still bleeding
I pray somehow
You'll hear my pleading
Oh I am fading here
Oh I am failing here
Lord take me now.

Lord take me now
Though I'm still breathing
Can't live without
Her heart's bequeathing
Oh I am lost in fear
Oh I am alone in fear
Lord take me now
Lord take me now
Oh take me now, mmm
Lord take me now.

I could never prepare for this,
so suddenly left behind
I am loosing my consciousness,
all I know has left me blind
I’d have never believed that I’d
come to know this hour
But I hold my life before you
Lord take me now.

Lord take me now
Her soul is leaving
I do avow
I stopped believing
But now I feel you near
Oh now I need you near
Lord take me now
Lord take me now
Oh take me now ... mmm
Lord take me now ...

Walk Upon My Land

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

When I walk upon my land
I don’t know why but I feel different
I don’t know how but I can hear it down inside
When I walk upon my land
There’s a secret that’s told to me
A legend too old to be mine
When I walk upon my land
I don’t know why but there’s a knowing
A natural easy going sense of pride
When I walk upon my land
Oh the seasons reveal to me
The wonders of perfect passing time

So if you’re in the city now,
or a place that you can’t stand
Come take a walk upon my land

When I walk upon my land
I don’t know why but I feel fortune
Wet or dry I feel thankfulness inside
When I walk upon my land
Oh, I’d swear that it was made for me
My own perfect stitch in space and time
When I walk upon my land
I see life just bloom around me
Like a window to another place divine

So if you’re in the city now,
or a place that you can’t stand
Come take a walk upon my land

When I walk upon my land
Oh, I know it’s just on loan to me
A simple right of custody
A profound responsibility
But for now, the pleasure is all mine

So, if you’re in the city now,
or a place that you can’t stand
Come take a walk, upon my land
Yes if you’re in the city now,
or a place that you can’t stand
Come take a walk upon my land
Come take a walk upon our land.

Lady Don't You Walk Away

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

You just can’t get up and leave me here dear
We can make the bells ring again
I know that it’s been rough,
Yes it’s been hard here.
But lady don’t you walk away.

Count the time that we’ve been caring
And count the times we’ve shown we’re in love
It all adds up to a thousand years of sharing
So lady don’t you walk away.

We’ve never come this far before
How do know what it’s like?
Let’s not throw away each time we cry
There’s fresh water in each teardrop
And there’s sunshine on your hair
And I won’t believe that you don’t care.

So don’t make the mistake of leaving
when you’re cold and angry
That’s a move you’re sure to regret
when your mind is calm
I’m sure that we can talk about this
more quietly
So lady don’t you walk away.

You just can’t get up and leave me here dear
We can make the bells ring again
I know that it’s been rough,
Yes it’s been hard here.
But lady don’t you walk away
Oh lady don’t you walk
Come on, sit back down, let’s talk
Oh lady don’t you walk away
Lady don’t you walk away.

Last Year

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

Have you ever been so lonely,
you could cry?
And have you ever felt you’d
give your all to be in love?
And have you ever dreamt at
night and cried out loud?
Have you ever felt your heart,
turn cold and stop in fear?
I’m no, stranger to love,
I had the warmth and beauty
And I let it all go by last year.

Have you ever been all
alone in a crowd?
And have you ever needed to
give all you had away?
And have you ever known the
plight and been too proud?
Have you ever fallen apart,
turned cold and stopped in fear?
Oh I’m no stranger to love,
I had the warmth and beauty
And I let it all go by
I let it all go by
Why did I let it all go by last year?

Ohhh ... there’s a feeling I get
and it’s got me on my knees
And I can’t forget,
no I won’t forget last year.

‘Cause only now I realise,
what we had
And only now I’d give
my all to be in love
And the gentle way you called
my name now makes me sad
Oh it’s a sorrow that won’t rest,
a shouting in my ear
Oh I’m no stranger to love,
I had the warmth and beauty
And I let it all go by,
I let it all go by,
How could I let it all go by, last year?

Oh I let it all go by,
I let it all go by,
Oh I let my love go by last year.

Common Hope

Written By: Craig Andrew Browne

Sitting 'round the table - laughing with my friends
Good times won’t last forever but -
We’ll remember when
Nothing else, really mattered -
Each other, wine and song
And the common hope, that we will carry on.

Walkin' long the shore line - skippin’ stones
Sittin' on the headland -
Three of us alone
Stare across the pink horizon
Debatin’ ‘bout right and wrong
And the common hope, that we will carry on.

True friendships start in the simplest of ways
And yet they last the most complex of days
What we share, will ebb and unfold
But our common hope will never grow old.

Sittin' round the fire - as the sun goes down
Talk until the early hours -
Sharin’ what we’ve found
Share the glow of the fading embers
The nights are not very long
But our common hope, will always carry on.

(Yes) our common hope, ohhhh,
Our common hope, ohhhh
Our common hope, will always carry on.
