Bio

Scott and I met at San Francisco State Univertsity in 1999. We were randomly selected by Housing authority to room together. At that point we just partied, no musical collaboration. I had noticed that he was good at playing guitar, really good, but I didn't know if he was serious about putting a band together. Scott was making hip-hop beats at that point and I had to convince him to give that a rest and pick up the guitar again. He had a rehearsal space in downtown SF and I started going down there to hang out. It was the perfect place for me to work on my vocal ability without anyone around. At first, we just made noise, but soon we were concentrating on one or two of his riffs and slowly sculpting them into songs. I loved our material, it was like a dream come true for me, to be forming a band with such a talented guitarist, so much potential. I called up a friend of mine named Dan from school that played drums and he became our drummer for a while. He didn't want to make the commitment and the day I let him go we auditioned Rich, who had a crazy jazz style. We made it work and he was our drummer for about 2 years. Great skill, lots of intensity, but overplayed just a bit at times. I wound up selling him my car for a dollar, a 77 Chevelle Malibu, a car may grandmom gave me when I was 16 and which I drove out to Cali from Philly. I don't regret it, at the time the transmission was a mess and I had no where to park the thing. Anyway, this whole time I was writing writing writing. I loved our material. I felt if we remained focused and got a little lucky, we could recieve major label attention. Hell, our songs were as good or better than what was getting played on the radio. The problem was, Scott became the backstage manager at a killer concert venue in SF. It was a dream job, he loved it, but his priorities began to shift leaving the band playing second or third or fourth potato. I hung with it for a while, a long while in fact. I was convinced we were good enough, if we could just stick with it. The love wasn't there though and after a few shows, a couple demos, and months and months of practicing every three weeks and him forgetting his own songs I said the hell with it and moved back East to Philadelphia where I live now. The day before I caught my flight Scott and I went out to Oakland to record acoustic takes of as many songs an we could finish. The result was a kick-ass acoustic rock album that I am extremely proud of. We always considered the two of us the band and that's why that album is the truest form of the music we made. I still write songs and have many more in my head. There is a good chance I will start another band in Philly, it's what I love to do, but nothing will compare to the telepathy we had going on in SF. For a little while, we did it right.
