Craig Monday

Nashville’s Adroit Records is delighted to welcome Craig Monday to their expanding roster of talented singer-songwriters.

With his pure country voice and youthful charm, Craig Monday may have taken the long way to reach this point in his career, but with cuts by Kenny Chesney, Vince Gill and Amy Grant, there is no doubt that he is exactly where he’s meant to be.

Tennessee-born Monday, who first picked up a guitar in the 6th grade, says, “I remember being blown away by Richie Sambora of Bon Jovi and thinking man that really looks cool.” At age 16, after listening to his share of rock music, he was inspired to become a songwriter.

“I try writing songs based on things that are happening in my life,” says Monday. “I started writing with the intentions of composing a great rock song, but everything that came out always sounded country.”

Making the move to Music City in’96, Monday shared the stage with some of country music’s greatest including Grammy Award winner Linda Davis and tunesmith icon Tony Lane. In 2003, Monday was featured at ASCAP’s Country Music Awards and performed his apropos tune, “This Song Ain’t Free,” before Congress.

“Craig Monday is the reason this record company exists,” says Adroit President Jim Tract. “The first night I went to the Bluebird Café I heard Craig perform ‘Heaven Is A Small Town’, and when he got to the hook, people gasped and then spontaneously applauded. It was mind boggling to me that an audience could be that astute and appreciative of great songwriting. That was the moment that the idea for Adroit was born.”

“Just seeing someone like your songs, follow you to shows and keep showing up at your performances is amazing,” says Monday. “There’s nothing more exciting than knowing someone likes what you do. Hopefully, when this is all done, people will say that guy got lucky a few times and wrote some pretty good songs.”
