"'Merci' review"

Craig Paddock
Merci
Independent

Growing up in a lush mecca for soulful music has served to be a stimulus for New Orleans born-and-raised musician, Craig Paddock. This singer-songwriter has artfully arranged Merci, his latest release, to evoke that feel-good sensation—and who doesn’t need a little of that? Try and listen to the album’s title track, “Merci,” without losing yourself in the bubbly beat and warm vocals. Any fans of Jason Mraz or Paolo Nutini will find themselves falling for Paddock and his upbeat folk sound. Over the span of six tracks Paddock displays the well-rounded range of his voice. Songs like “Merci” and “To Be With You” have Paddock placating with a more mellow lyrical style while “Amen” showcases the power behind his vocals. This gospel proves that Paddock’s got soul and he knows how to use it. Merci is sure to be a wise investment for any music lover looking for a smooth folk fix. If you need more convincing, catch Craig Paddock at the Neutral Ground Coffee House on November 15.—J.V. Mina - Where Yat Magazine-New Orleans

Bio

Craig Paddock is a singer, guitarist, and songwriter who was born and raised in Americas most musically historical city, New Orleans, Louisiana. But in a city where learning how to play an instrument takes precedence over learning how to ride a bike, its sometimes hard to distinguish oneself as a musician, especially if you play a genre other than jazz. Despite the odds, Craig Paddock has been able to hone his undeniably soulful voice and songwriting style to do just that.
