Self-termed genre, Afro-GoGo Roots collective 'Crank LuKongo'-- akin to a progressive DC Go-Go foundation with elements of progressive soul, Jazz, Reggae, Bues, Rock, Salsa, Afrobeat, Worldbeat, Folk, and Hip-Hop. In 2013, Crank LuKongo was conceived by Washington, DC born percussionist, drummer, producer, songwriter, and actor, Matt Swamp Guinee (Pure Light Seed, Bambu Station, Junior Marvin's Wailers, Thievery Corporation). The Crank LuKongo collective features a variety of well-established musicians in indie and world music genres, including co-producers David Blackwell on guitar, bass, keys, and vocals (Pure Light Seed, and Charles Road), and Keith 'Lazy K Lofton on guitar, bass, keys, and vocals (Basehead and Lazy K).
