Crash Henry
Crash Henry
(Independent)
easy rock
Starting up with a Stevie Ray Vaughn lick and quickly showcasing Linette Huelsman’s singing, this group knows the connection they want to establish with their intended audience. But for local foursome Crash Henry, are these solid links with the potential to last, or only as fleeting as the popularity of the 8-track tapes used as the album-cover motif?
At first it seems that drummer Jyn Yates is the only one challenging herself. But with “Drive,” the comfort-food version of the classic-rock format is overtaken and everyone steps forward. Not too unlike the edgier end of 1970s Fleetwood Mac, this song works very well indeed with female/male harmonies and an off-hand tunefulness built from blues roots. “Crosses” follows — almost a sequel, except for a measured feel of ominous encroachments on the everyday. Over nine songs here, a slightly sunny muscularity wins out over something more complex that is relegated to the shadows and corners. —T.E. Lyons - Louisville Eccentric Observer (LEO)

Sit up and pay attention. That is exactly what you will be doing once the first few chords hit your ears from Crash Henry’s debut release. You got the drums, the electric guitar and the smooth vocals. The songs are sing-along worthy with captivating lyrics guaranteed to have you playing air drums in no time flat! This is one of those albums that you have to turn it up to feel the full effect. I especially love the song, “Drive”. It’s catchy, charming and a good time. Check out newcomers Crash Henry. You’ll love ‘em!
