Bio

CRASHLANDING is a hard driving rock-n-roll band with heavy blues and psychedelic influences inspired by Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin, the Mars Volta and blues greats, like Muddy Waters and Albert King. CRASHLANDING plays regularly in the San Francisco Bay Area and has been packing clubs with their high-energy show where the crowds dance all night and scream for more. With original songs and powerful guitar solos, CRASHLANDING delivers their unique brand of blues based rock-n-roll that appeals to audiences of all ages. Their vintage sound is a collaboration of Alex Zelnick’s strong vocals and funky bass lines, Elijah Rice’s 54 Black Beauty Custom Reissue and 64 Strat classic guitar tones and Phil Hodges 23 years of performance experience including classical percussion, contemporary drumset (rock, jazz, funk, blues, world music), electronic percussion, and hand percussion. CRASHLANDING’s blues songs are brought to life with Zeke Tharp’s James Cotton inspired harmonica playing. Elijah and Alex were in the “Northern Lights Blues Band” and Alex has played bass “Shladango” (funk and rock), the “Allrights” (funk and jazz), “Humbolt County Freestyle Kings” (hip hop) and the “70s” (reggae). Phil has played with Taos Hum (fusion-jam band), 7th Direction (Americana rock), Hobo Jungle (folk/Americana rock) and Index:A (hard rock). CRASHLANDING was formed in 2004 and their first full-length album, “Down,” was released to rave reviews in 2005. “Down” was produced and mixed by Damion Gallegos (former lead singer of Fungo Mungo) at Chub Studios. CRASHLANDING will be back in the studio later this year for their much-anticipated second album.
