""Get Up or Get Out" CD Review"

With every new CD I find in my PO box, comes a spark of hope that I will feel excited after the 1st listen. That, rarely happens.
Today I found my fresh new copy of Atlanta's Crazy Anglos' "Get Up Or Get Out" EP. I also found that tiny spark of hope grow into
a fire as the opening track 'TRAIN' began to build into a , Rage Against the Machine, type of anthem with both MC Boze and vocalist John O'Leary
asking the question are you gonna be on that train? The train refers to a movement to make change, any change.
Yes, this band changed my mood and I wanted to hear the rest of the CD. It didn't let me down.
Track 2 is a more Hip-Hop flavoured song carried by MC Boze who also carries
melody well and is not a gimmick rapper for a heavy band. 'Never Say Die' subject matter: deep, song: catchy. Drummer Kevin Compton
carries the groove with the flair of rock drumming but stays true to it's roots as a hip-hop influenced tune while bassist Danny Helms lays down a groove that carries
the flow of each verse to a punchy upbeat chorus.
Track 3 stokes the fire a little more, 'Venomous' has machine gun style guitar riffs from Brandon Parker and it shows Mr. Parker's obvious punk influence.
You can actually feel the anger seething from your speakers on this song.
Next is 'Goodbye', by this time the CD is at full burn and the listener has got to be up and moving, now I get the CD title.
'Goodbye' drips more angst and passion over a backdrop of family struggles, an all to familiar subject to most listeners.
Lyrically the song articulates what several cannot say for themselves.
Great CD!!!
The final cut on the EP is a more earthy song, 'Mista, Mista' ... with a vocal delivery in the reggae vein, and a bouncy bass line, the
Crazy Anglos still manage to express their unhappiness with the way the system runs. If you are feeling let down by someone, anyone...
"Get Up or Get Out" will help you express these feelings while you listen to well crafted songs and in your face production that is not candy coated.
"Get up or Get Out? I'm up and my CD player is on fire!!!

Crazy Anglos
Get Up or Get Out
Review by Trevor Dye
May 2007

Aside from the unparalleled praise for Linkin Park, rap-rock fusion artists are mostly
absent from the mainstream music scene, making it that much more refreshing to
discover the artists, such as Crazy Anglos, that are quietly perpetuating the genre to new
heights. The latest release from the Atlanta based quintet, a five track EP entitled Get Up
or Get Out, serves as a swift shot to the face of those naysaying music aficionados that
argue “nu-metal” is dwindling to extinction. The Crazy Anglos possess a versatility that
could only come with blending several genres, as each distinct track on the album is
overflowing with intensity but still unique in the individual delivery. Brandon Parker’s
sharp electric riffs and Danny Helm’s smooth bass lines combined with the seemingly
calculated give and take between the vocal styling’s of rock inspired frontman John O'
Leary and hip-hop flavored MC Bryan Bozeman evokes thoughts of early Linkin Park or
pre-sell out Limp Bizkit. Then, add the edge of Cypress Hill and the angst of the Beastie
Boys and you have it.
In comparison to their earlier works, a collection of unreleased tracks on Atlantic
Records, Get Up or Get Out offers a much more developed and cohesive sound, with a
dramatic leap forward in production quality. In a not so distant future the new EP will
have been nothing more than a stepping-stone for an even brighter future, as the band
prepares to launch their full-length debut later in the year. But, for now, lets forget all of
the chronology and just call it a great record. - Review by Trevor Dye

Special - The Red & Black

The International music competition The John Lennon Songwriting Contest offers this Atlanta band the chance for fame and wealth.

“Our song ‘Fade’ was selected for the rock category for Section Two, and we are up for the grand prize,” said Crazy Anglos singer, Bryan Bozeman, in an e-mail interview.

The grand prize includes $20,000 and a chance to compete for the Maxwell Song of the Year. The band is up against Fergus Brown, a songwriter from Sydney, Australia.

The Crazy Anglos, which formed in 2000, includes four members: Bozeman, Adam Corn (bass), Brandon Parker (guitar) and Kevin Compton (drums).

Bozeman said the band’s audiences never stand still in front of them.

“Our music is contagious,” he said. “Once it starts, you’re going to want to jump around and bob your head.”

Bozeman said for him, playing shows is therapeutic.

“It lets me get things off my chest that I hope and think other people experience as well,” he said.

Besides being finalists in an international contest, Bozeman said the Crazy Anglos also are working on a new album.

“If the world wants all the songs to be hits, then that’s what we will deliver this time,” Bozeman said. “We will express ourselves through our music, and we hope our fans feel it like we do.”

Crazy Anglos usually plays in Atlanta, the band’s hometown. Bozeman said the band likes to play at the Hard Rock Cafe.

However, the band has a place in Athens as well.

“We have found a nice little home at the Last Call in Athens,” Bozeman said. “The crowd seems to really dig us.” - Red and Black

"Crazy Anglos mix up the rap-rock category"

Crazy Anglos mix up the rap-rock category
By: Lauren Brown Staff Writer">Lauren Brown Staff Writer
Issue date: 3/25/04 Section: Urbanite

If you ask any member of the band what drives them, the Crazy Anglos will probably tell you “the fans.” However, what drives their fans, is this bands incredible mix, of hip-hop meets power rock.

Their self-titled six-track release is a small sampling of the talent that lies within these Marietta boys. Their songs tend to begin with a rhythmic combination of funky baselines and clever guitar rifts. Then the voices of lead singer John O’Leary and MC Bryan Bozeman take each track from a rock tune to full-fledged rock out.

The band lists some of their many influences as Sum 41, Goody Mobb, Incubus, Outkast, Sublime and the Deftones. And it seems that they made an effort to mix all of their varied musical tastes to produce one incredibly unique album. Tracks such as “Freaking Me Out” and “Meant to Me” are reminiscent of groups like 311 and Korn.

The Anglos sound may make you think of other artists, but the groove they create when performing is truly their own.

Lyrically, the Anglos are…well…crazy. John takes on the emotional side, his voice providing the heart and soul of their tracks, while Bryan spits the verbal rapid fire with an energy that is difficult to find in any contemporary rock or hip-hop artist.

Arguably the best track on the album, “Become 1,” is the best example of the two vocalists combing their talents.

Their album is set off by some intense production, best heard on the second track, “Meant to Me.” The Anglos may not have made it to the music major leagues yet, but they are far from a garage band.

It is evident that this band is constantly working on their sound, because each track is technical perfection. “Become One,” the fourth track on the album, fuses deejay scratches with guitar harmonies most likely provided by guitarist Brandon Parker, and the result is a rock masterpiece.

Why you should cop this album: the Crazy Anglos are still a local band but not for long. They are hoping to start doing shows in other markets this year, starting with a show in Alabama in early March.

This is not your ordinary band; one minute your pulse is exploding to keep pace with the albums hard, driving rhythms, and another moment, and you’re being quietly lulled by Brandon’s smooth guitar to the mouth of one of Bryan’s explosive rhymes. The electricity this band creates with their music is not like any other musical act out there right now.

With such tremendous amount of creativity flowing through this band of brothers, it’s only a matter of time before the Anglos are a Billboard staple.

Since the bands inception, the Crazy Anglos have become collectively known for their signature sound that effortlessly blends a number of diverse musical elements. Citing an eclectic mix of influences ranging from Cypress Hill and Outkast, to Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, 311 to Beethoven, Miles Davis, and Bob Marley; the Anglos infuse the raw edges of rock and the rhythmic timing of rap with the heavy backbeats synonymous with funk and reggae.

Fronted by vocalist John O' Leary and MC Bryan Bozeman, the Crazy Anglos maintain a delicate balance between melodic vocals and sharp rhymes. Brandon Parker provides assaulting riffs on guitar, while Danny Helm's undeniably intricate bass lines round out the bands bottom end. Drummer Kevin Compton, who Atlanta-area reviewers have revered as "supplying the deadliest beats in the South, puts the punctuation on the Anglos complex arrangements. The result of all this raw talent and genre-blending is a refreshingly unexpected sound that blurs the lines between musical styles.

And there is no better way to experience that sound then at a live show. Performing as if they are under the impression that amplifiers will be outlawed within the next few hours, the Crazy Anglos never hesitate to unleash two fistfuls of intensity every time they play. This pure, unbridled energy is flat-out contagious. This is NOT your average rock band. Their live show is very high energy and they have a very diverse fan base ranging from age 14 to 44.

The Crazy Anglos have toured with and shared the stage with many talented bands including: Rehab, Chevelle, Offspring, Foo Fighters, SevenDust, Hed PE, Powerman 5000, FullScale, Story of the Year, Smile Empty Soul, Seether, Da Brat, Sleepy Brown, Bone Crusher, Authority Zero, A Change of Pace, AFI, NoFX and more.
