Crazy Aunt Mary is comprised of award-winning songwriter Michelle Holmes and accoladed guitarist Steve Pinkney. This duo has played in other entities for many years in the Los Angeles area. The edgy and lyrical songwriting of Holmes, with her powerful vocals and subtle bass playing, and the accomplished and elusive guitar delivery of Pinkney has made their songs new yet desirably familiar to listeners. Their recent album, "Sexy Epsilon," brings a mixture of Modern and Acoustic Rock and Blues that has never been heard before. Let their music bring you to another place with its imagery and surprise. And watch for their new album and new music videos!!

Steve and Michelle have opened for Ambrosia at The Key Club on the Sunset Strip and placed 1st in LA and 4th Nationally in the Garageband Records "12 Bands of Christmas" competition at the Hard Rock Cafe.

They have also played great clubs such as The Gig, Rusty's Surf Ranch, Universal Bar & Grill, Hallenbeck's, The Pitfire Grill, Kulaks Woodshed, Genghis Cohen, Molly Malone's, Lush, The Lighthouse, Liquid Lounge, Welcome Cafe, and 14 Below.

And ... they've been part of such events as the LA Bikeathon, Santa Monica College Cancer Benefit, Sherman Oaks Street Fair, GoGirlsMusicFest, Cat Connection Summer Fundraiser, and the Hep C Telethon.

We love Todd Rundgren, Steely Dan, Bonnie Raitt, Randy Newman, Kate Bush, Leo Kottke, The B-52's, The Beatles and, well, the list goes on and on. If you're a great musician with edgy, smart lyrics, we love you!

Michelle was on The Wave!! Michelle was guest DJ on KTWV 94.7 The Wave, playing Steely Dan, Eagles, Booker T., B.B. King, Hall & Oates, Dave Brubeck, and well, it goes on, but you get the idea!

Michelle's song, "Cup of Joe," was on the number one Nashville Sunday radio show "Sauced!" with the Saucy Sisters!!

And ... her Christmas song, "A Little Bit Better This Christmas" has been heard on the radio in LA, Berkeley, Nashville, Ireland, Australia, Ohio, Virginia, Arkansas, Alabama, and Colorado, to name the places we know about!

NEWS! Crazy Aunt Mary's song, "Last One Home Tonight," hit number 3 after four weeks on 3WestTV.com's Top Ten list!! And ... their video, "Kate Hutton," has been chosen to air on a nationally broadcast show sponsored by Sam Ash!

NEWS FLASH!! Michelle has just won the ASCAPlus Songwriting Award for her eighth year in a row!!!

ANOTHER NEWS FLASH!!! Michelle placed in the top five in the Indiegrrl Songwriting Competition for her song "Indian Hills." You can hear Crazy Aunt Mary having fun playing it at www.airplaydirect.com/crazyauntmary.

OKAY, it keeps coming!! Michelle and Steve have received Honorable Mentions for their songs "Black Emerald" and "Run Into the Sun" in the Billboard World Song Contest! They say we not only know how to write hit songs, but Steve got free guitar strings! How cool is that!!

Lyrics

Indian Hills

Written By: Michelle Holmes

Chorus:
Indian Hills
Indian Hills
No Indians live there
No Indians will
Indian Hills
Indian Hills
All my white bros and sisters were raised
In Indian Hills
Uh huh uh

Hey, nonny nonny nonny, ho hi ho
Hey, nonny nonny nonny, ho hi ho
Hey, nonny nonny nonny, ho hi ho
Hey, nonny nonny nonny, ho hi ho

The land of Wonder Bread
And Cadillac De Ville
The sky devoid of rain
Our tribe devoid of will

We sent each other messages
Via Etch-a-Sketch
How mommy was an angel
And daddy just a letch

We kept a close society
Of nothing much to speak of
We wore our navy jumpers
Up so high you'd get a peek of

Repeat chorus

The rabbits in the garden
The cardinal flying high
No dating all the others
The elders would decry

Why do you like those Jewish boys?
My auntie would lament
Why can't you find one of your own
And throw him in your tent?

The endless joy that I would get
From all her aggravation
I'd smoke my signals all around
The whole Caucasian nation

Repeat chorus

Black Emerald

Written By: Michelle Holmes

They tell the tale of the emerald black
Her eyes shone like the sea
Her life I wish I could carry back
She's gone because of me
She's gone because of me

They raised her up in Galway town
A thing of beauty rare
Alabaster was her skin
And black of coal her hair

All the lads from 'round about
Saw her in the sun
She danced the green in her velvet rare
Until the day was done

Oh ho, you think I'm telling tales
But they watched her every one
They laid a bet to lay her down
She had no chance to run
There was nowhere to run

The emerald black was an innocent
She hadn't got a clue
With auburn hair and the widest hands
He did what he would do

No praying in the night, they say
Could undo what he did
He spawned a seed that she didn't want
It could not be hid

Oh ho, you think I'm telling tales
But I was there to show
On that day I became the life
Of a man she didn't know
She loved but didn't know

And now I live by the Western sea
Upon the sapphire shore
My auburn hair is the legacy
Of the man who gave no more

Love is never a surety
No gem of rarest gleam
It takes a life and it gives a life
With nothing in between

Oh ho, you think I'm telling tales
But I've danced the emerald green
I, too, have laid my life for a lad
There's nothing in between
I want the in between

The emerald black has her freedom now

Run Into the Sun

Written By: Michelle Holmes & Steve Pinkney

You're smiling, I'm nervous
Could it be something I said
You're angry, I'm sorry
Let's not do this before bed

Every time I'm with you
You think I need fine tuning
You think I can take it
Quick, while you're not looking

Chorus:
Don't take defeat, rip up the sheet
Turn up the heat, run into the ...
No more unkind, leave it behind
You'll never find, run into the ...
Make it today, just get away
I'm here to say, run into the sun

This feeling's not normal
It's swelling over my head
Okay it is just me
Everyone has skin this red

Never knew the answer
To your daily question
You'd better stop asking
Only a suggestion

Repeat chorus

I'm writing this letter
To let you know I made it
The dogs all have been fed
And the phone bill I paid it

Never your salvation
Only your distraction
Let yourself do better
Liberate your action

Repeat chorus

Last One Home Tonight

Written By: Michelle Holmes & Steve Pinkney

I've seen a lot of trouble in the mornin'
I've felt a lot of pain by mid-day's light
It don't matter when you're holdin' me so tight
I'll be the last one home tonight

I told you that I didn't have a fella
Look at you, you have no wife
We ain't pretty, but we keep on cheatin' life
I'll be the last one home tonight

Chorus:
If I never tell you that I love you
If I never promise that I care
Can you still forgive me that I need you
Will you let me hold you when I'm scared

I told you that I didn't have a fella
Look at you, you have no wife
We ain't pretty, but we keep on cheatin' life
I'll be the last one home tonight

Repeat chorus

I've seen a lot of trouble in the mornin'
I've felt a lot of pain by mid-day's light
It don't matter when you're holdin' me so tight
I'll be the last one home tonight

You'll be the last one home tonight

Kate Hutton

Written By: Michelle Holmes & Steve Pinkney

Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, please give me a sign
The earth is still shaking, but say you'll be mine
I wait in my bedroom to see you appear
Just echo the words that allay all my fear

Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, it's such a grand scale
Somewhere between Richter and thunder and hail
The way that your voice rings out over the night
The dogs are all freaked but I know it's all right

Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, they think it's a game
The way that I need you, there's no one the same
You show me your bravery when others have gone
I sleep the night through when I have you along

Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, are you ever scared?
Do doorjambs and tables see that you're prepared?
Or can you sense love is a seismic affair
Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, just show me you care

Kate Hutton, Kate Hutton, I like your grey hair

Sexy Epsilon

Written By: Michelle Holmes & Steve Pinkney

Sexy little Epsilon
Why'd you stay away so long?
Don't you know your future's here?
Can you magically appear?

Sexy little Epsilon
Sketch you with a blue crayon
Doodle blue infinity
Time stands still when you're with me

Painting, painting
High on my cologne
Fainting, fainting
When I feel you all alone

Sexy little Epsilon
Only you can lead me on
Can you occupy my past?
Give me love that wants to last

Painting, painting
Dip the brush right in
Tainting, tainting
Smooth your color on my skin

Sexy little Epsilon
Quick before my light is gone
Picture all we want to be
Love through all eternity

You're my sexy little Epsilon
Sexy Epsilon
Wrap me in your pink chiffon
Sexy Epsilon

Sexy little Epsilon
Sexy Epsilon

Repeat

Sexy little Epsilon
Why'd you stay away so long?
Sexy little Epsilon
Sketch you with a blue crayon

Sexy little Epsilon
Only you can lead me on
Sexy little Epsilon
Wrap me in your pink chiffon

Don't you know your future's here?
Can you magically appear?
Doodle blue infinity
Time stands still when you're with me

Can you occupy my past?
Give me love that wants to last
Picture all we want to be
Love through all eternity (yeah yeah yeah)

Sexy little Epsilon
Sexy Epsilon

Repeat

Walk of Fame

Written By: Michelle Holmes

Pick me up, give me more pain
Sky is dark, god no more rain
Life is long, I got so old
Sidewalk’s wet, sleep in the cold

Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame, such a shame

Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame

Take a step, walk on a star
They’re all dead, you’re not that far
It’s a lie, life is complete
Touch a name, with tired feet

Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame, god’s to blame
Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame

Dog is cute, I was once, too
Give him some, he’ll give to you
I look fine, to untrained eyes
All the hope, that money buys

Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame, no one came
Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame

Don’t be sad, it’s not the end
Though I break, I also bend
Concrete smell, adds to my tears
I’ll be there, many more years

Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame, what’s my name
Walk of Fame, Walk of Fame
Walk of Fame, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah

Rockin' a Hard Place

Written By: Michelle Holmes

Don’t leave your wife for me
I won’t tolerate that
If you leave your wife for me
I’ll be leavin’ you flat
Got a man of my own, baby
And he’s lookin’ so fine
But I ain’t half dead yet
So I’m gonna make your body mine

Between rockin’ a hard place
And bein’ so good
I’ll take rockin’ a hard place
And you knew that I would
I’ll keep rockin’ a hard place
You’ll be fillin’ me up
With your powerful feelin’
That never will never will
Never will never will stop

I got the comp’ny I’m needin’
With my dog and my bass
But my lust starts to swellin’
When I see your face
You’re a tall drink of water
And I’m dry as a bone
Quench more than my thirst, darlin’
But don’t ever leave home

Between rockin’ a hard place
And bein’ your wife
I’ll take rockin’ a hard place
Don’t want more from your life
Just keep rockin’ that hard place
Give the color you got
Put the blush on my rosebud
And I’ll thank you and thank you
And thank you and thank you a lot

I’m exceptionally choosy
With how I delight
And you’re one in a million
But just stay for the night
Your family still loves you
And I’m sure mine does, too
But then they haven’t found out
That I’m sleepin’ with you

Between rockin’ a hard place
And stayin’ at home
I’ll keep rockin’ your hard place
When I get you alone
Keep on rockin’ a hard place
You’re a damn perfect fit
Don’t give pain just your pleasure
And I’m rollin’ and rolin’
And rollin’ and rollin’ with it

I’ll keep rockin’ a hard place
You’ll keep fillin’ me up
With your powerful feelin’
That never will never will
Never will never will
Never will never will
Never will never will stop

Quiet Water

Written By: Michelle Holmes

You didn't hear me leave today
We don't have much to say
Oooh, oooh, quiet water
I tried to keep the faucet low
I barely let the water flow
Oooh, oooh, quiet water

Quiet water come cleanse my soul
Quiet water please make me whole
Wash away the part of me
The part of me that used to be you

I took the robe you wouldn't use
The color that you'd never choose
Oooh, oooh, quiet water
I hate the things I left behind
But mostly I just left my mind
Oooh, oooh, quiet water

Quiet water don't let him in
Quiet water absolve my sin
Cleanse away the heart of me
The heart of me that used to be his

The windows shook with gentle rain
As sex with you washed down the drain
Oooh, oooh, quiet water
I'll bet you don't know why I've gone
In fact, I'll bet you sing along
Oooh, oooh, quiet water

Quiet water come cleanse my soul
Quiet water please make me whole
Wash away the part of me
The part of me that used to be you

When I Close My Eyes

Written By: Michelle Holmes

Never thought that this could be
Love like this was not for me
Now I see exquisitely
When I close my eyes

Yours is not a beauty found
Calling out without a sound
Sing to me so peacefully
When I close my eyes

Chorus:
Waiting for so long to be
Your lover forever
Love that won't decide
Just be our guide

When I thought I'd run away
You, alone, could make me stay
Kissing me eternally
When I close my eyes

Repeat chorus

There you stood in front of me
Telling me that I was free
Free to love you endlessly
When I close my eyes

I say yes so willingly
Open up my eyes

Month After Month

Written By: Michelle Holmes

Is January really today?
I cannot change whatever you say
Tired of the cold, I’m feeling blasé
Month after month the snow’s here to stay

Staying in bed is the only way

February is a lady I know
She always says I’m movin’ too slow
I hesitate when she says to go
Month after Month she’s tellin’ me so

Girl, you need to be a duo

March is deceiving all of his friends
Can they believe the flowers he sends
Mean what they mean, well, it all depends
Month after month the honeymoon ends

Sleep is the lie he always defends

Month after month is living
Month after month takes time
Minutes are unforgiving
Days take me past my prime

April takes pride in being a tease
One day she’s lovely the next day I sneeze
She’s only fit for the birds and the bees
Month after month I’m begging her please

Springtime is just another warm breeze

May is my husband’s birthday each year
I’m always wrong with his present, I fear
He sees me fret, so I’ll never hear
Month after month, I still persevere

Does it really fit, he tells me, “yes, dear”

Why are there weddings in June every day?
I love a month that gives me away
Writing the words that I have to say
Month after month am I in a play?

Being a wife is really okay

I’m gonna be in love in July
My body tingling gives me a high
Tasting his lips makes me want to fly
Month after month right up to the sky

Careful, those wings can give a black eye

Why is August always this hot?
Giving us things that we haven’t got
Sunburn and don’t forget the age spot
Month after month it seems like a lot

Thinking it’s always something it’s not

Glad it’s September, go back to school
Tell all the kids that you think I’m cool
They’ll be impressed that I’m such a fool
Month after month I lie in the pool

Never thought getting old would be cruel

Month after month is living
Month after month takes time
Minutes are unforgiving
Days take me past my prime

October has a feel that is rare
Costumes that sparkle ask me to dare
Dare to show everyone I don't care
Month after month don't wanna be fair

If I’m alone I don't have to share

Every November I turn a page
Everyone says they can't tell my age
There's a photograph I keep in a cage
Month after month it carries my rage

I'm still a kid while it's an old sage

Without December I think I'd die
Rudolph and Charlie Brown make me cry
Nothing I get is what I would buy
Month after month I ask myself why

When I fall in love he's never the guy

Month after month is living
Month after month takes time
Minutes are unforgiving
Days take me past my prime

My Love is Like a Hummingbird

Written By: Michelle Holmes

My love is like a hummingbird
So free and full of flight
With wings that beat the humid air
Not stopping day or night

My love is like a hummingbird
It sips the nectar sweet
And tastes the sugar from within
The blooming petals’ heat

Love’s hard to see, it move so fast
It comes and then it goes
You cannot hope to claim it
As every lover knows

So just try to enjoy it
Your gentle night’s repose
The hummingbird keeps flying toward
The blooming of the rose

The hummingbird keeps flying toward
The blooming of the rose

My love is like a violet
With velvet petals true
The constant beating of my heart
Wakes all my dreams anew

Oh where’s my gentle hummingbird
Who sips my nectar sweet
And tastes my sugar from within
My open petals’ heat

Love’s hard to see, it move so fast
It comes and then it goes
You cannot hope to claim it
As every lover knows

So just try to enjoy it
Your gentle night’s repose
The hummingbird keeps flying toward
The blooming of the rose

Oh hummingbird stop flying toward
The blooming of the rose
And love your little violet
Who underneath her grows

Oh love your little violet
In gentle night’s repose

A Little Bit Better This Christmas

Written By: Michelle Holmes

It’ll be a little bit better this Christmas
There’s a little more money this year
There haven’t been as many vet bills
And more friends are saying “Be of good cheer!”

It’ll be a little bit better this Christmas
Not as much medication this time
The job’s a little more friendly
And merry is easier to rhyme

Shaking a snow globe’s a pleasure
Red and green’s never a bore
Hope might really be possible
This might be the year you can walk through that door

And see Christmas might be getting better
This might be the year that you’ve been waiting for
It might be a little better this Christmas
Because love won’t leave anymore
