The Youth Band from Maningrida Aboriginal community in North East Arnhem Land - Northern Territory
Have been gigging since year 10
The band is made up of young people under the
age of 18 years
These guys took out the battle of the
Arnhem Land school bands in 2006
And
School band of the year at the
NT Indigenous Music Awards 2007
There on stage performance is full of energy
With a mixture of ska-reggae-rock and fusion
They add a touch of traditional Aboriginal music with the haunting sounds of the didgeridoo
And there songs are sung in both English and Burarra language
The band has gigged at Garma festival, Barunga Sport & Cultural Festival , Bagot community Festival and took centre stage at the
Maningrida Festival 06/07/08
And has just returned from World Youth Day 08, were they performed in front of 30,000 jumping fans!!
The Crazy Boyz have done numerous gigs in the community
Gigs such as:
National Youth Day 2006
Maningrida Youth and Cultural Festival
Australian Day Celebrations
Year 12 Graduation Ceremony
And have supported the likes of
Jessica Mauboy, Luciano, Wild Water Band, Narbelek,
Sunrize Band and Letter Stix Band
These guys were a finalist in the “Emerging Act” category at the NT Indigenous Music Awards 08
