Bio

The Creek Road Ramblers have officially been together since July 2006. The band consists of the remaining GString Bandits, a local bluegrass band since 03. With a new lineup in place, and exciting new material and venues on the horizon, the name change was natural. What's in a name? Well, in the last 6 months alot has changed. The band has appeared at The Illinois Bluegrass Summit at The Canopy Club in Urbana, Hangar 9 in Carbondale, the first year of the Strip Mine Party, twice opened for Vince Herman of Leftover Salmon, and performed over 30 shows throughout the hidden back-road corn-field bluegrass towns of Illinois. The Ramblers, gaining confidence as a quartet, have developed their own style rapidly and gained a reputation for their high-energy genre-blending live shows. The musical influences of each member is as diverse as their personality and opinion, but as a whole, the band whole-heartedly sends much love and gratitude to John Hartford, the wide world of the Grateful Dead, Doc Watson, Leftover Salmon, The Kentucky Colonels, the Chicago Blues scene, Old Crow Medicine Show, Split Lip Rayfield, Django Reinhardt, Bob Dylan and The Band for giving the Creek Road Ramblers inspiration and drive. A new line of CRR Merchandise, made with environmentally-friendly materials, and a new collection of original material is due this Spring. We have bootlegs of live performances available at our shows.
