Bio
Crist Sperling is a guitarist specializing in instrumental music. He has written numerous compositions in many different styles including Americana, Ballad, Blues, Funky, Island, Jazz, Latin, New Age, New Orleans, Pop, R & B and Rock. Crist uses a Carvin NS1 guitar which triggers a Roland GR-55 guitar synthesizer to draw both traditional and modern sounds from his instrument. Using a Boss RC-50 loop station, Crist layers his music creating multiple parts in a live setting.
Having a strong connection to music from an early age, Crist followed his muse and became involved with music throughout his life. Earning degrees in music (Associate in Arts, Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education) and performing in numerous music ensembles (98th Army Band, pit orchestra for various musicals and many, many local bands), Crist draws on his wide and varied background with music as he sets his focus on creating original music for a contemporary audience.
As he was developing his taste and style in music Crist found many musicians to be influential. Some of these are Jeff Beck, Larry Coryell, Al DiMeola, Steve Howe, John McLaughlin, Steve Morris and Carlos Santana.
While performing live, Crist seeks to establish a connection with his audience and make them feel that they are a part of the performance. He likes to educate as well as entertain; offering insight and information about the music being performed.
Crist Sperling has developed into a unique performer offering his audiences a variety of contemporary musical styles. Improvisation is an important part of his music as he uses many instrumental timbres and moods to create the right atmosphere for each original composition.
