"Crooked Edge - "Deliver Us From Emo" Review"

Crooked Edge's latest EP, "Deliver Us From Emo", is fast, catchy, and distinctly hard edged music.....A blend of powerful vocals and incisive guitarwork.....they may well be set for big things." - Source: punkunited.com

"Crooked Edge - "Sickness in Motion" Review"

"Above-average emo-rock that scores mostly by dint of doing what its cookie-cutter contemporaries don't. One, it really rocks, delivering earnest lyrics in a throaty tenor (as opposed to the now-mandatory nasal whine) and backing them with beefy riffs (as opposed to the now-mandatory major-key four-chord hook). Two, it does employ the now-mandatory major-key four-chord hook, but judiciously instead of, you know, all the fucking time. And three, it's not afraid to err toward the loose rather than the slick. This demo isn't blindingly original, but there's enough here to suggest that dismissing the band as a soundalike might be a serious mistake." - Source: The Weekly Planet

""Straight Up with Crooked Edge""

"...if you haven’t checked out Crooked Edge live, I definitely suggest you do so immediately.....you’ll be sucked into their melodic style of music." - Source: BAM Magazine

"Crooked Edge - "Edge of Emo""

"...a local band with chops, hooks and a similar youth appeal.....the quintet's sound owes more to the taut, galloping style that blasted out of Southern California during the early '90s than anything that's happened in punk since.....nearly everyone who hears Crooked Edge, or sees the band live, seems to come away with a favorable impression.....a consistently strong draw in an environment where lots of original acts are struggling to build a fanbase.....their appeal lies, admirably, in the music itself. Crooked Edge's well-wrought, meaty and occasionally technical oeuvre, while standing out from the currently emo- and screamo-obsessed fringe-rock pack, balances heft and catchiness ably enough to attract fans of just about any guitar-driven subgenre. But the band's attitude is also definitely a factor. They're focused and driven but still approachable, and refreshingly modest." - Sourece: The Weekly Planet

Bio

“Crooked Edge ‘s well-wrought, meaty and occasionally technical oeuvre.... balances heft and catchiness ably enough to attract fans of just about any guitar-driven subgenre,” - Scott Harrell/Creative Loafing (formerly Weekly Planet)

CE is originally made up of Chris Splendore (drums), Jeremy Runkle (guitar/vocals), and Scott Mobley (guitar/vocals). However, they truly established themselves with the additions of Danny Gonzalez (lead vocals) in 2003 and the latest joining by Conrad Petzinger (bass/vocals). Since that onset, the Tampa Bay area band has grown into a highly energetic performance playing with great passion and emotion. Their distinct sound and relentless attitude has made them one of the most well-known and respected punk-rock bands in the state of Florida.

“Ready Aim Fire,” the new EP released this November on No Filler Records, has already begun to generate hype around Florida gaining them local radio interviews and recognition.

With the previous release of “Deliver Us From Emo” (04), CE was chosen as a top 10 finalist out of more than 7,000 bands nationwide for the Pure Volume/Takeover Records “Sign My Band Contest.” In 2005, Crooked Edge performed on the Ernie Ball Stage at the Vans Warped Tour for the second consecutive year. They have been featured on various DVD’s and compilation CD’s.

In just the past two years, CE has shared the stage with many great bands including: Sum 41, Yellowcard, The Used, Story of the Year, Taking Back Sunday, Everclear, Lit, Lost Prophets, Coheed & Cambria, Matchbook Romance, Skindred, Authority Zero, The Matches, Crossfade, Riddlin' Kids, A Wilhelm Scream, Over It, Planes Mistaken For Stars, Rock Kills Kid, Smoke or Fire, Glass & Ashes, Much The Same, Near Miss, Hey Mike, Ever We Fall and more.

In addition to their hard-earned success, Crooked Edge strongly believes in giving back (mainly to their surrounding community) and has played numerous benefit shows including MTV’s “Rock the Vote,” the American Red Cross disaster relief, “Not One More” (a non-profit organization raising awareness of missing children), and the Pediatric Cancer Research Foundation.

In the upcoming months, Crooked Edge will be touring statewide and nationally in support of “Ready Aim Fire.” CE is on the move and with what they have in store for their fans and new listeners, you will not want to take your eyes off of these guys.
